  1. What is the most important area to jump from 1900 to 2100?

Sometimes, you can tell coaches what you need to work on and they will do it for you even if they are coaching other students in a different way.
  2. What is the most important area to jump from 1900 to 2100?

But maybe there is something about how you execute the serve that makes it unstable at critical moments. This is where practice based on the principles of timeless technique can be helpful. I have a friend who has nasty serves but also misses a lot of serves. His setup and preparation are not...
  3. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Good stuff. I have one point against Jian Li where he sidespin loops thr ball.and I kill it with my slow rubbers and thr crowd gore oooh... still my best point ever against a high level player and you out did that a few times here lol.
  4. What is the most important area to jump from 1900 to 2100?

Serve consistency is probably the biggest signature of a strong player, but I suspect (projecting a bit here) that in practice you give yourself too much credit for your serves being low and spinny in the absence of a strong returner (in fact, my serves are been relatively high for a long time...
  5. What is the most important area to jump from 1900 to 2100?

For me the biggest gap I feel between the players who I struggle to beat at the 2000 level is that they are consistently athletic and physical so they don't fall apart when forced to move and they hit the ball with interest. IF you can make and recover to hit two or three shots with quality, or...
  6. What is the most important area to jump from 1900 to 2100?

Not really, usually the tactics that get you to level as high as 1700 USATT are already in your style, the key is usually to improve their quality and application. While the mental aspects are clearly important, I think most of them still show up in play as technical issues or inconsistency...
  7. Does training with a certain ball matter?

I disagree. It clearly does, the question is the difference in preparation and level of the players. Certain balls play to certain strengths and weaknesses, and these can be issues depending on specific styles and how close in level the players are. I find I personally struggle when switching...
  8. Something a bit quicker than Fastarc G1?

OP is unlikely to be a pro but my answer came from a 2400 player one day when I told him I played with G1. There is a reason why MX-P was the 05 competitor for a while. That and Bluefire.
  9. Something a bit quicker than Fastarc G1?

Tibhar Evolution MX-P is the standard answer, the problem is that it doesn't last long because of the evaporating booster.

  12. XIOM C55 Impressions and Comparison with H3N

Unless you see the player and how they hit the ball, discussing durability and rubber care is relative. By the way, my rubners look like trash and people tell me to clean them with rubber cleaner but I still get great spin from them so I have realized that optics beat performance for too many.
  13. Ito: I'm not sure I will play for another 4 years

I hear you but the injuries have to be the key. Even players like Solja got to age 28 despite them. Ai Fukuhara got to 29. Lacking motivation is clearly not in the cards for Hirano. But injuries is fair game.
  14. Ito: I'm not sure I will play for another 4 years

You think she concedes that Odo is better? I don't see it unless she has unpublicised nagging injuries.
  15. Ito: I'm not sure I will play for another 4 years

From a rankings perspective WTTC is not what it used to be so it will be interesting to know the masterplan.
  16. I Challenged A Pro With A Mystery Table Tennis Bat!

Kanak as a junior always had more feeling with the backhand than the forehand and it is natural for you to need to adjust the side of the racket that comes less naturally to you. I suspect his forehand is more sensitive to rubber changes than his backhand.
  17. Bluegrip C2 or Rakza Z or Z Extra Hard?

    Depends on the person's forehand!
  18. Ito: I'm not sure I will play for another 4 years

Her hand is getting better? Wow....
  19. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

So in addition to adopting the Mizutani elbow positioning in order to make my stroke more tightly tied to my body rotation, I am trying to do some physical work to improve my overall strength with a focus on glutes more than anything else. Will be interesting to see how well it works if at all.
