  1. Long pip rubber for my backhand

Hi, Can you tell me some more about the pimplemini please. I bought a sheet, just to try a pips out rubber, found I could use FH loop stroke, without really feeling that I changed my stroke ( but that’s how I felt, not necessarily what I actually did!!!) BH was okay as well, chopping was ok...
  2. TTD Team KNOCKOUT Tournament 2020

Good call !!! we could’ve seen a different champ!!
  3. Calling all EJ’s !!! List the equipment tried over the last 2yrs

Hi, Yep, basically the same shape and dimensions. A little to thin at the neck for my liking!!!
  4. Calling all EJ’s !!! List the equipment tried over the last 2yrs

No not really!! I just enjoy using different stuff, especially at the moment, no competitive clubs matches for almost a year now, and minimal player v player training sessions. So changing equipment isn’t so much of an issue. Once normality returns, then I’ll have to settle down and choose one...

  6. Tacky Chinese Rubber on the Backhand?

i played both TT and badminton when younger, kept playing badminton for much longer, badminton is very wristy, so I have a fairly powerful wrist which definitely helps!!!
  7. Tacky Chinese Rubber on the Backhand?

    Have you boosted the H3 37 ??
  8. Apex Blades, New Brand!

carbon can increase speed, but another advantage is that the sweet spot is also larger.
  9. Upgrading blade and what it means to be able to control

Tacky rubbers on the BH side are fine to use, as Tango K says spin levels can be really high, but as with FH the brushing technique is a must. This is the good thing about Tacky rubbers, the brushing technique is needed to get out the best from the rubbers, obviously combined with everything...
  10. Upgrading blade and what it means to be able to control

Food for thought!! From what I’ve read / learnt and from past experience from being a young player starting TT, the common coaching ideas, across the differing coaching philosophies, appears to be the blade, for beginners it generally seems to be an all wood, All, All+ blade. When I started...
  11. Upgrading blade and what it means to be able to control

Nittaku Acoustic has 2 handle size variations std and large handle, as well as the normal flared/straight etc options, the one I have is the large handle version. If you can’t find the blades in stock, or another player locally that has one to try. Then maybe go on manufacturers website and see...
  12. Upgrading blade and what it means to be able to control

If you basically like the PG7 (not including handle and small sweet spot) the Joola TPE Feeling could be an alternative all wood 7 ply blade. Carl listed a few blades, I have used the Primorac (Japan version) and the Nittaku Acoustic, these are both excellent products.
  13. Upgrading blade and what it means to be able to control

    Dwell !!!!! Don’t go there!!! ;);)
  14. Upgrading blade and what it means to be able to control

Totally agree, with table tennis, it’s generally fast regardless. Everything comes down to fractions of a second. because the distances the ball travels, is in general terms fairly short, close to the table say 10 - 12 ft. The speed differences of a fast set up say off + and slower off - are...
  15. Upgrading blade and what it means to be able to control

The all wood option sits very well with me!! Just feels better, you know when you hit a really good shot, strangely, a lot of really great shots don’t have much feeling!! Why, I’m not totally sure, but with golf (and other sports) the same can be said, you hit a great shot, you know because you...
  16. Joola TPE fight or Long 5

ML 5 is a good blade, but for the likes of myself I found it hard to get use to. It’s great for brush looping. Found it hard to really feel in control, rubbers used on it were un-boosted H3 National on FH and Golden Tango on BH. I haven’t used TPE Fight, but I have used TPE Perform with H3 Nat...
  17. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

10lbs, lucky you !!! I need to loose about 28 minimum!!! Sod’s law says I ‘ll pick up your 10lbs !! So glad I have a table to practice on, my serves have improved a lot, different types and variations, but by no means perfect!!! But starting to get bedded in now, consistency improving. This has...
  18. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

As you all probably know, it’s got worse here in the UK, new COVID variant, which is highly infectious, and today they announced that a 3rd variant , from South Africa has also entered the UK!!! The area I live in is now in lockdown for Christmas. The government also reckon that it won’t be...
  19. Upgrading blade and what it means to be able to control

Hi, At the end of your post you said ‘coach say get whatever blade looks good to me (you) and train more’ So I take it that you have discussed changing your blade with the coach ? As far as trying your friends bat, which also has different rubbers and is a pretty expensive set up, don’t get...
