  1. New "Rules" for Table Tennis

Indeed, and that just doesn't happen (anymore) in current table tennis! You can serve almost from wherever you want, as long as the point of contact is not above the table but behind your baseline or its extensions. Simply rule 2.06.04: From the start of service until it is struck, the ball...
  2. New "Rules" for Table Tennis

I think we saw most of the male and a few female matches last week and the umpires regularly pointed out the ball out but rarely for the over table serve. When Lim JH serves, he does it from the side of the table in 90% of the cases. In this service, his point of contact with the ball is always...

    Zhang Jike in Rotterdam (2011)?
  4. New "Rules" for Table Tennis

Well yes, I have now seen many matches of the gentlemen. Referees have indicated several times that the throwing should not be given backwards. As far as I know I can still see reasonably well, but what I've seen in the last week is unbelievable. Not a single time, but not a single time, was...
  5. New "Rules" for Table Tennis

I'm not talking about whether or not to hide. Overall find this to be quite good. Little to no reprimands for this by the referee as well.
  6. New "Rules" for Table Tennis

Lol, I'm just now seeing this thread! Very funny topic. 🤣 Apparently rule 16 is absolutely no longer applicable in today's table tennis. There is also no broad basis for this on the forum because everyone apparently thinks illegal serving is okay.

And...he touched the corner of the table several times with his right index finger! Why would he do that? 🤔
  8. WTT Champions Xinxiang 2023

Why are there rules? I think they make rules to get uniformity about behavior, fair play, services, rubbers, clothing, etc... They then translate these into regulations. If those regulations are no longer to be followed, I think this may be communicated to all their affiliated members worldwide...

    I don't understand your question
  10. WTT Champions Xinxiang 2023

So it's allowed in the future that everyone can throw? 🤔 And it is allowed that you can serve from above the tabel from now on? Nobody sees that? Then also take away those regulations and referees! Incredible! Okay good to know! 🥴 :D

  16. WTT Champions Xinxiang 2023

No, I find it strange too. Apparently, decades ago, the WTT set rules that no longer apply to everyday table tennis. After throwing the racket (almost hitting a photographer) and serving over/above the table, those are two things that are clearly tolerated now. Ruwen just shouldn't have been...

They are in China with many ... :D ;)
  18. What are tactics for men to play women?

Spin!, no speed. Most girls/women have problems with that. Going along in speed is usually not a good idea, but that of course depends on your own level. The reason that their playing speed is generally always higher than men has to do purely with their anatomy, since they have shorter muscles...

I first saw Kanak play live in Liege, Belgium in 2017. Oh, but nothing but positive things about Kanak. Great player! Only we have already discussed his "special arm" in another topic. Hence the reference to robot(arm)
  20. WTT Champions Xinxiang 2023

Kanak's FH comes awfully close to that of a robot! :D;)
