  1. Is this good zlc?

As Lodro pointed out, Butterfly will not reveal their secrets, they don't even disclose their compositions. But their ALC is not fully saturated, there are a lot of open spaces, not a glassy layer like you see on some of those cheap blades. What other experts? That information has been passed...
  2. Is this good zlc?

Completely true, but notice how I didn't mentioned anything about how they play. There are plenty of good and cheap blades out there, and a high price tag does not make a blade necessarily good.
  3. Is this good zlc?

Butterfly's ZLC has the same weave pattern as that one, the zylon is horizontal and the carbon is vertical. Butterfly's ALC is sort of a 1:1, but there is almost no Arylate in the vertical direction and there is a lot more space between the threads than that one. This is their proprietary weave...
  4. Is this good zlc?

They both have what is called a plain weave pattern, but the "zlc" has a ratio of 1:0, which means there is only one fiber in each direction and the ALC has a ratio of 1:1, with both fibers in both directions. The weaving pattern of the "zlc" is actually correct, that is what you find on...
  5. SDC Handmade Blades

Vis composition but with some minor structural changes, namely a slightly thinner top ply and a thicker core. Paired with AxC, the blade has an higher stiffness but feels softer than if regular AC was used. It also reduces the weight a bit and allows the use of Ebony in the handle, which feels...

  9. SDC Handmade Blades

This is a blade with a unique design, very different from a common 3+2 composition. Normally the core of a blade is placed with the grain vertically aligned, but here I'm using a horizontal core. This results in a more flexible blade, with more touch at the expense of some speed. The fiber is...

  14. SDC Handmade Blades

I was never a big fan of Donic style handles, but I mostly used their blades until I started making my own, so here's my homage with 13 different wood species and a senso milling. The blade is a classic Off-, Limba / Limba composition, with the aid of 200 g/m2 glassfiber, which doesn't provide a...
