  2. JTTA: Selection System to be Revamped for Paris 2024

I think Hayata should play the doubles not just because of her poor record in singles (never won Chen Meng, Sun Yingsha or Wang Manyu) after all its the same for Miwa, and Hirano got only 1 (recent and amazing) win over SYS. But because she's the leftie and an excellent doubles player and 1...
  3. Tactics when your loop gets chopblocked

I think one good strategy (that i'm unable to execute because im too slow) is to move quickly to the ball and if you're able to play near the top of the bounce then so many options are available. I do the no-spin loop only because im slow to move and play the ball well its already below the table.
  4. No spin loops

its a shot that i learnt to do (often) in the 2 following specific situations: 1) playing a chopper. after I make a powerful drive to his FH, he manages to put it back with a heavy backspin shot on the table on my FH side, often going out on the FH side line. Looping against heavy backspin is...
  5. JTTA: Selection System to be Revamped for Paris 2024

Even if she goes , likely she gets benched most / all of the time I think For men the third spot in Olympics belong to Shinozuka or Matsushima I think because they will choose a leftie. Shinozuka seems to be the better player and has played more often doubles with Harimoto but JNT likes to...
  6. JTTA: Selection System to be Revamped for Paris 2024

I only knew about Jack Bauer. His ability to overcome any seemingly helpless situation and to endure immense amount of pain
  7. WTT Star Contender Goa 2024

when Felix took the timeout, it was 2-0 and (8-7 ?) for Calderano, and he said to the coach he didn't know anymore what to serve. Coach told him there were so many serves he could do for example the BH serve, but Felix didn't seem to agree, coach said, ok which serve do you want to do ? Felix...
  8. JTTA: Selection System to be Revamped for Paris 2024

It’s only Harimoto’s 2nd singles title at All-Japan. He won his first one in 2018 aged 14 ! For Hayata it’s her 3rd singles win. She ties with Ito. Ishikawa has 5 singles crowns
  9. JTTA: Selection System to be Revamped for Paris 2024

In 2016 ZJK played against an injured Samsonov iirc. There was a real chance And Japan pair won G1 in the team event. They were close to being 2-1 up in doubles. If they won I believe Mizutani could have won ZJK in singles
  10. JTTA: Selection System to be Revamped for Paris 2024

Hmmm I am not so negative Because Chen Meng is past her prime now. She seems to be dealing with injuries too. Hayata was close in Nagoya. Wang Manyu also seems to be dealing with injuries with her level of play being highly variable IMO Japan has more chances than you realize
  11. JTTA: Selection System to be Revamped for Paris 2024

As a fan, I shall not forget all the joy that Mima brought to me with her never-seen-before awesome plays. Even if she can't win anymore, I will not spit on her. I don't know if she is finished. I think she went into a negative spiral, couldn't endure the pressure and do what it takes to keep...

big day tomorrow with 3 singles rounds on the same day ! IIRC they changed the programmation this year, they used always to put doubles everyday and only 2 singles rounds on the same day ? today was doubles only.

  14. Eugene vs 2200 player

supply and demand. so many good players in China or Japan that are skilled enough to become coaches. and its a popular sport. The affluent don't all play golf but are ready to spend some money on TT. Actually my current coach is having a hard time and looking for a new job / stint in a foreign...
  15. Eugene vs 2200 player

one of my coach, GC Foerster, ex-national Holland team player (and Bundesliga pro) once won a game against a (very) low level amateur 11-0 11-0 11-0. He said he was 120% focus, and it was a very tiring effort. Its so easy to miss one ball, or there were a few chances for the other player, and a...
  16. European Top 16 Cup 2024

what impressed me most was even when Jorgic was seemingly off-balance just with the wrist he was able to produce more a FH slap than a block with extremely good placement. he did that so many times, it wasn't luck and the produced ball was perhaps even more difficult than a regular FH. so many...
