  1. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

LOL I couldn't help myself :ROFLMAO: Naah, doing that have actually helped me adapt to this new blade much much faster than what I had expected. This blade is indeed awesome! Unfortunately, I've never played with a non tacky rubber... I've been considering to change into non tacky ones the past...
  2. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

I couldn't quite see how the grains are aligned. Is this correct? Is the spin generated differ from one another? The diagram in the post below could explain what I mean.
  3. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

It's an all European Spruce blade. Heavier, slightly less soft than hinoki, from what I've read about. Could you somehow post pics of the bottom side of your handles? With you having 3 7p2aC, I wonder how different they could be. If it's not much of a trouble for you.
  4. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

I tried measuring the plies on yours and mine. Yours are 0.75mm top ply, 0.9mm, 0.3mm carbon, 2.6mm core, 0.3mm carbon, 0.9mm, and 0.75mm top ply. Mine are 1.0mm top ply, 1.3mm, 0.3mm carbon, 1.3mm core, 0.3mm carbon, 1.3mm, 1.0mm top ply. Looking at the thickness of each ply, it could also be...
  5. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Dang, the grains on your handle are so tight... It's a bit blurry, but it kinda does look like the core was laid horizontally. This would make it more flexible, wouldn't it? Would you happen to have the chance to play with both the thicker and thinner cores? Mine is aligned with the top...
  6. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Yep, it's a very old line. I've seen that catalogue you attached. I found a newer one from OOAK forum, I can't remember the year, this one has the aquaselas CNF with the new gold logo. I actually wanted this one, but couldn't find anyone selling it here. Couldn't even find any posts on this...
  7. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

The Yinhe I got most likely is of lesser quality than your Butterfly, but yeah, I had that same feeling when playing with the Yinhe. To basically not "think" when playing, just focus on making good shots, the feel and control was indeed amazing. Looking at the much wider grain on the top plies...
  8. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

I asked the seller, he doesn't know the production date, said that it arrived recently, but could be from 2015-2018. The oldest post I could find that had thicker core was from sept '20. The oldest post for the thinner core was from april '17. I really wasn't aware that they changed the core...
  9. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

There's another one, a gold one, with kanji (?) characters below their logotype. That could be an even older one? Since the posts I found dated 2015 through 2021 have the blue lenses. The 2021 I found had thicker core, similar to yours...
  10. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Haven't got a clue. Though from the posts I could find, 2015-2020, thicker outer plies, the same logos. It does feel very soft. I feel like this blade is even much softer than my 5-ply full cypress/hinoki blades.
  11. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Yep, it is indeed. I did do a whole lot of reading the past 3 months or so. Kiso hinoki would be "the best" among cypress, wouldn't it? Good grief, if all cypress are similar, then I just wasted hours each day for the past 3 months searching and reading those articles. I kinda feel like kiso is...
  12. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Yeah... That itch...came along after reading these posts on Darker's quality. Now I can see what's all the fuss is all about. I could only find a couple selling the BTY Kiso Hinoki 7 here, used, with dents and splinters, as expensive as a new 7p-2a, about USD97, too expensive imho. They both...
  13. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Very nice review... The HC-5s looks very similar to Yinhe Kiso 5. I've had to clean the handle everyday, trying to keep it clean. I didn't varnish it, previously, on my Jonyer H-II, the lacquer yellowed after 5 years (my mistake for choosing the wrong varnish, it said acrylic-based spray paint...
  14. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Thx, already read that a while back. I've read pretty much read all the 7p-2a's article I could find. As well as Darker related, and Kiso Hinoki related...plenty more Yep, Yinhe makes one, Yinhe Kiso 5, 7, and 9. I can still find them new on the local market. They cost about USD43 here. A...
  15. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Thanks, couldn't find one here in my country... Though I kinda do want a natural wood colored handle, and if I really couldn't find one to my liking, the septear feel is in the top of my list. Yeah, have been reading plenty of threads on that one. Couldn't really find a 5ply all wood hinoki...
  16. Should I "upgrade" my all-wood 5-ply Kiso Hinoki?

Hi, I've been playing with a Yinhe Kiso Hinoki 5, a 5-ply (supposedly) Kiso Hinoki blade for a couple of months now, and I'm beginning to love how it behaves. Previously, I played with a Butterfly Jonyer H-II for about 5 years, an all-wood Hinoki-Cypress (?) combo of some sort. The Jonyer felt...
