  1. I wanna play with the big boys!

+1. Some things will become A LOT easier with LP against 1500 crowd, service return being one of them. You also quickly get your share of mistakes some (but not all) opponents will make, and a bit of psychological advantage. It's not all rainbows and unicorns, of course - you do need to re-learn...
  2. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Which 'good LP' did you get there, GXL Oh-Toro?
  3. Progress is very slow, and only 4 months before the next tournament

At 600 USATT (or even around ~1000) level, hips rotation and weight transfer are not really that high on the list of things I would worry about. Just putting the ball on the table is mostly what you need (unless we are talking California 600 :) where you might be dealing with heavily coached...
  4. Lost interest in WTT

I think 5% increase in ball size does nothing for spectators, especially the TV/Internet ones. Advances in broadcast TV quality were much more impactful, IMHO. (SD-> HD->4K...)
  5. Is EJing good for improving?

EJing is somewhat useful for getting first hand experience with various bits of equipment and calibrating whatever you read on forums and review sites. And realizing that there is no magical rubber/blade that will make you better overnight. :)
  6. Tournaments with most participants?

I still see mixed doubles for Rome... (registered couple of days ago)
  7. My newly bought racket is too fast, what can I do?

What did you use before? AK47 are not that fast, IMHO, and blade seems to be of Allround variety, so no speed demon either.
  8. Frustration over first non pre-assembled blade

To clarify - when you say "the ball won't get past the net", this usually implies that your racket is slow compared to your old setup. But then you ask "is the blade/rubber too fast for me?", so I'm a bit confused. I would expect your new racket to be faster compared to your old premade (their...
  9. colored rubbers

Grass Dtecs, green as they should be.
  10. 65 year-old Wu Jingping, previous personal couch of FZD and XX, is now coaching Feng

"Godfather" offer usually implies something else, I thought. You know, saying 'no' to a Mafia Don is a challenge... :p
  11. Cheaper T05H - T05 Combination Alternative

No offense, but your TTR translates into about 1700 USATT. Players at that level are usually in no way limited by T05 and one could even argue they are in general not that good at handling setups as hard and fast as yours.
  12. Why doesn't the IITF have a ratings system?

I doubt it's practical - imagine complaining among fans (and perhaps players): "Why is player A seeded here, while this 'other' rating says he is stronger?!!! Conspiracy!".
  13. Is it worth serving short ? - for amateurs

    Hear, hear!
  14. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Do I ever?! Thanks for asking, plenty of slumps to go around. All it takes is you being somewhat under the weather, mind preoccupied with something at work/home, couple of misses/edges/nets, opponent having a "can't miss" day, unusual light conditions, your technique taking a day off because it...
  15. Leaked Photos: New rubber colours on blades!

What might happen is certain brands will try to differentiate themselves by cornering certain colors: e.g. all Rasants are now green, Bluefires blue, Rozena is pink, Joola Golden Tango, well, gold etc. This might reduce stock issues. May be...
  16. Leaked Photos: New rubber colours on blades!

That's, like, sample of one. Could be just variance among batches. We need way more data to make a claim that 'red is softer than black' etc.
  17. Leaked Photos: New rubber colours on blades!

Might be a decent strategy to get the most annoying color then... Cyan is right there, perhaps magenta as well. Imagine playing someone with a sheet of purple pips :) !
  18. Spin is better than Speed - I am a believer now.

I'm more curious about the name of newcomer. Willing to bet he was pretty high level before (and obviously still is).
  19. Statistics software for table tennis

Simple Excel spreadsheet will probably do here. Your main challenge is not how to analyze data, it's how to collect it. So, watching videos of her play and annotating it for things like: FH vs. BH win/loss, placement, 3rd ball, serve receive errors etc. Coach probably can suggest other metrics...
