  1. Qatar Open 2020

Found it really funny too. Inspect each other's racket, play with same ball, share the practice hall and locker room yet they are not allowed to shake hands.
  2. Caronavirus & Tokyo 2020

One positive thing is that no one in my office (500ppl+) has been sick for the last few weeks, presumably because of the improved personal hygiene. At the moment a chance of seeing a person with virus is one in a million so I'll worry about it if I hear someone in my company gets it.
  3. Single Ply hinoki blades

I only see single ply hinoki JPen players in vets competition now. When I talk to them there are plenty of players who have never broken their blades. Sample size is only about 100 but there's only 1 or 2 who snapped the hinoki blade. It's most likely that they handle their blades with extra...
  4. Caronavirus & Tokyo 2020

The winter here has been very warm and humid this year so we have less people with flu and/or corona virus. At the moment it doesn't seem as severe as the flu in US so fingers crossed for the Olympics.
  5. All Japan Championship 2020 Jan 13-19

Awesome results. Very happy for both Uda and Hayata.
  6. All Japan Championship 2020 Jan 13-19

Great to see the depth in Junior Girls. Junior Boys, not so much. Matsushima needs to eat more weet-bix!
  7. World Junior Championships (WJTTC) 2019 in Karat, Thailand

Surprised at how well Uda and Togami performed. Maybe I don't have to wait for Matsushima for the next big thing.
  8. Breaking News - Mizutani Exposed for Cheating

Well, there you go. Don't take tabloids seriously. I presume when the initial article was published, Mizutani was already consulting the police and his lawyer. Suspects realized that they were unlikely to obtain any cash from Mizutani went to Post Seven instead to sell their story. I've...
  9. Top 5 Most Popular Table Tennis Rubbers of All Time

PF4-651, Sriver, Bryce, H3, Tenergy for me. I guess it'd be entirely different list if the most popular meant the best selling.
  10. Japanese League - T.League 2019/2020

Hi Madmanchap. There are two senior leagues in Japan. One is T league (Pro league, est. 2018), another one is Japan Table Tennis League (corporate owned teams, Li used to play in it). Schedule and venues of the T league for Dec (https://tleague.jp/match/?season=2019&month=201912&mw=): 12/4...
  11. Good blades with hinoki outer ply and composite material?

Been using Butterfly Gergery for ages. Fantastic blade with good Hinoki feel (Hinoki-Carbon-Kiri). It's thick and fast so probably won't suit players who'd like the spinny game. But once you're hooked, it's pretty hard to use something else.
  12. Chinese CNT should not be aloud to play due to support of criminal government.

It could be done and happened before with South Africa. Politics and Sports are so close together, more so in some countries. However, I don't think this forum is an appropriate place to discuss that.
  13. Gaps along and between surface wood grinds

If anything, I presume joined veneers are stronger and less prone to humidity. Would someone with a wood work expertise teach us how it'd affect the property of a racket?
  14. German Open 2019

I hate Tokyo Gymnasium! SO many unreserved seats (including all arena seats), you have to cue outside well before the gate opens.
  15. Why single-ply hinoki not popular in plastic ball era

My Cypress-S withstood occational use (since I dont use J-Pen) for 10 years before it snapped in half. The skill level doesn't really matter as plenty of top penhold players prefer mult ply hinoki blade. It's more a matter of how much you love that crisp, springy 1 ply hinoki feel and how much...
  16. Why single-ply hinoki not popular in plastic ball era

Used to own Butterfly Cypress-S just so that I can glue the Sriver on and have fun occasionaly. One good thing about near extinction of J-Pen player is that the single ply Hinoki blades don't cost $1000 upwards! Like everyone said, it's so hard to find a good single ply Hinoki. They say that...
  17. Breaking News - Mizutani Exposed for Cheating

Sure, you keep on believing that mate. I've moved on years ago.
  18. Breaking News - Mizutani Exposed for Cheating

The article is by Post Seven which is in the lower end of Japanese gossip magazine. So I wouldn't take too much from it.
  19. Japanese League - T.League 2019/2020

It's a shame that she's very shy in nature. If she was half as outgoing as Ito or Hayata, she could've been the most popular TT player in Japan.
  20. Japanese League - T.League 2019/2020

My office is 3 mins away from where the opening match was held and there was a looong que well before the gate opened. There are posters everywhere, glad they'are putting lots of effort in 2nd year.
