read a couple of old posts in this thread about the shiny balls.
As said above, Nittaku shiny balls are much more common than other balls (and I still remember how shinny Nittaku celluloid balls were..)

Does anyone have more knowledge about this phenomena? I think it wouldn't be safe to presume that this shininess comes from the ball being "polished" by encountering multiple spiny brush contacts with the rubbers?

So the question then is Nittaku ball surface different and not as resistant as other manufacturers or the balls are so good, that they last so long without breaking that they get polished before they get broken?
