Yes. Ma Long was blocking extremely well against Fang Bo as well. He using tactics similar to Waldners' where players are afraid to step around and use their forehand because they either get a diagonal counter topspin or a Bh block down the line.

Yes, he is a little bit inconsistent, isn't he?

But I'm actually not surprised he lost early in China this year as he should be right in the middle of intense training for the European Championships in 5-6 weeks time. He really shouldn't be on top of his game now, that would be peaking too early and I'm sure his primary focus is on another European title.
