How did you decide Chinese versus Tensor rubber on FH?

Is funny you say this about different DHS rubber. I was sent the H2 by accident today instead of H3. I put on anyway since I got store credit for shipping mistake.

Was afraid it would be too fast but I feel more control and very good spin on serve compared to rhyzm. I need weeks to know for sure, but maybe this accident for the best. Is H2 much different than H3?

Spin, especially over and close to the table. is not the issue with these rubbers - it is flat hitting and catapult away from the table. I hope you got a Neo though.

Never tried h2 by myself but I'm sure it's totally different. H2 is said to be bouncy. Not many people use h2 tho (compared to h3).

Yes it is a NEO.

The H2 does not seem bouncy compare to rhyzm. it seems more control. Less speed. Also paddle is a little lighter now, which I like.

Yes, the Chinese rubbers have less catapult and more control. Depending on what you are trying to do, that can be a good or a bad thing.

far from table i can see how it would be more challenge, i don't have too many rally past mid range yet. need to have a better serve, return and 3rd ball so that is why i try hurricane.

That makes sense. IF you play mostly close to the table, Chinese rubbers can be very helpful. In some ways, they are designed to address that part of the game. I just couldn't block passively with them during matches when facing weak balls. Otherwise, I liked Big Dipper a lot and would likely still be using it. That said, smashing and flat hitting are also relatively issues, but can be addressed by twiddling and using the backhand.

I love this thread. Many great posts in here.

The only thing I would like to add is that Chinese tacky rubbers have developed a bit since the good old days of H3. You can find a slightly wider range of playing characteristics among Chinese rubbers now, some having a bit more of an elastic response to help with playing from further back, some being less tacky to be a bit less specialised, some being outright tensor copies with no tack at all.

I'm a big fan of H8 on a fast blade these days, with Skyline 3-60 and Hurricane 3-50 also being useful options with their more modern sponges. (side note - 3-60 is surprisingly good for blocking and hitting). Heavy though.

QC has generally improved with Chinese rubbers in recent years too, although there have been some bad batches recently...

Chinese rubbers are often much harder and tackier than euros, serve, receive and third ball are usually the strong points of rubbers like these. They can be a little 2 dimensional, heavy spin or low trajectory powerful loop drive.

A Euro style rubber can be more reactive and you can work with more subtle movements to create variations especially with blocks and short counters. You need to make small adjustments to control things like short pushes as there is more spring in the rubber.

Both have their merits and we did a brief post before on comparisons in spin game between the two. HERE.

What glue did you use? I've subjected H3 Neo to similar torture using Falco Long in the past, and BTY water based glue handled it just fine.

ahaha I have done this myself many times but its almost pointless. You have to wait for the rubber to curl down because it is a slow process. Adding weight doesnt really do much, the more you boost, the more time the rubber needs to curl down

Hahahahaha. Liten, you may have to take the rubber off and let the dome go down a bit more and then reglue. Either that or use a glue like Free Chack or Revolution #3.

If that fails: Krazy Glue!!!

I have a bat with a chinese rubber ( hurricane ). It is a lot of fun to play topspin to topspin but I have too less feeling with a such rubber. So for me a usual rubber is better ^^
