      Handmade blades

      Hi TTD,

I'm after a new blade, and I would like something quite personal.

Basically, I've got to the stage in my game where I'm pretty comfortable with my technique, style and equipment preference (pretty standard euro style offensive topspin).

I know of OSP who handcraft blades, but I was wondering if anyone had any advice about other companies who provide a similar service and if anyone could share their experiences?

      Thanks

I've made some positive experience with www.americanhinoki.com a couple of months ago.
He made the blade just how i wanted. From the handle to the plies.
Some might say, the wood he uses ain't 'real' hinoki, but a lot of japanese companies seem to use american hinoki woods as well, and the blade plays pretty much as i thought it would.

But there are a few more small companies like www.soulspin.tt or even http://www.tischtennis-manufaktur.de
      or this here
      http://senkakujo.com/
Maybe this here could be interesting too
      http://nebula-blades.de/

      Hope this is helpful.

Alot of people make custom blades, including myself. I just do it for fun, but there are some really talented woodworkers around. 2 people/companies stand out for me:
      - For overall design, beauty and craftsmanship : Ross Leidy
      - Timeless and sober design combined with playing characteristics : OSP

If I'd ever be willing to spend more on a blade, i'd probably go for OSP virtuoso.

Indonesian Blade Pemula (lit. Beginner Blade) create custom hand made blade in < $ 30 range. Run by Nanang Faliq / Muslim in Bandung.

I bought Hitten Chakra from Him, ask for Oversized Blade (17 cm) and Handle, and he comply without fail.

He also handling custom design, so we just tell him our usual play style and racquet, and he can came out with customized design just for us.

A nice person to chat to, I might add.

I'd say that the basic info asked for has been covered. I can say that I have 4 blades from OSP and they are all awesome.

My main racket is the OSP Virtuoso Plus. If you like the classic feel of the old Stiga blades, OSP is excellent and totally blue collar, so solid craftsmanship but not fancy.

And Ross Leidy's blades look exquisite but I have no idea how they play. To me, they look more beautiful than any other blades I have seen by a long shot and I have heard they play as good as they look.

For cheapest custom blade available, try contacting Mr. Peter from Germany. http://www.tt-piet.de/bilder-tt-hoelzer.html
He's blade may not pretty, but you can make your own woods combination with his vast woods collection(5-ply, 6-ply, 7-ply, 9-ply).

Another German blademaker is Re-Impact. Pretty expensive, though http://re-impact-blades.com/

Another from Italy. Don't know much about this, though http://www.animusblade.it/

      Another from Greece. http://www.dattblades.com/#!order/c1d94

      And.....Soulspin also from Germany...http://www.soulspin.tt/en/soulspin.html
Soulspin is quite interesting manufacturer in my opinion. Nittaku make rubber exclusive for Soulspin.

      Also....me

Thank you for posting Senjakuro. I never knew about them.

Can't help you with that. I order glued veneer plates from tt-piet.de
Finding veneers + the right glue + pressing system = too much hassle for me at the moment.

You´re welcome. Same here. I´ve never heard of tt-piet before. Thanks for that

But i´m not sure about Soulspin, though... As far as i´ve been told, soulspin also does the Distribution for Nittaku in Germany. Before that Nittaku used to be distributed first by Karl-Heinz Schreiner, then by his son Frank Schreiner (Sport-schreiner tischtennis) later then by Donic (same owner: Frank Schreiner)
But soulspin also make a blade for Nittaku called the Meister blade, but i think you´re right, the Rubber P12 or project12 is made by Nittaku in Japan (not by ESN) for Soulspin.tt

Well, i nearly forgot about this manufacturer here: They are specialized on makin´ Balsa + carbon blades...
