This is just something that I have noticed, but there are far fewer women than men in all levels of TT, not only that, but the game style is also very different. To be honest, I'm unsure of why there are so few women, since TT has always struck me as a sport that is 1) Easy to get into, and 2) easy to learn the basics. I'm not saying women require that to get into a sport, but that both sexes should theoretically enter evenly. A sport like rugby is generally seen as a masculine sport which explains the sex disparity, but table tennis should not be. Also, I don't see why women's style should differ so greatly from men's, because table tennis requires less pure strength than, say tennis, yet women play a very similar style to mens, just slightly weaker.
In my country, there are only 9 players in the league, but for men there are 5 divisions (National, North, south, regionals, towns).
is there any particular reason for such a sex disparity, and style differential that anyone can see?
