It is interesting to me that vernier calipers range in price from under $10.00 to over $3,000.00!
My customer routinely measure to 5 microns. Rarely 1 micron but is doesn't cost that much more. The cost is usually under $1000. $3000 seem excessive.

The quality control is not that good. Why does knowing the thickness of the rubber that important?

Hi, dear Colleague
I DO PREFER Butterfly Device.

A time ago, I have been handed this penhold racket for a random inspection. And the DHS device was utterly useless to measure the rubber thickness, because of the rubber's non-typical size/configuration.

I do prefer Butterfly device much over DHS. Butterfly device is well fit to measure on Japanese penhold, no problem.

Again, the DHS device is too lighweight and shaky.

I took up some upgrade on my DHS device, replaced the acrilic undercarriadge with iron block. It is now looking much like Butterfly, with hefty iron block undercarridge.
BUTTERFLY device is the best choice for all the umpires-controllers, I convinced very much..

BE HAPPY.
