I will never understand ranking system, example
previous month mizutani was no 6 and Chuang was no 7, this month in two big tournaments Chuang reach two times best of 16 and mizutani two times quaterfinals. So i would say he should increase his advantage points over Chuang. But somehow Chuang playing quite poor advance to no 6.

Jakub Dyjas WR: 44 !

btw, Poland population ~39M - 7 olympic medals in ski jumping
England population ~50M - 0 olympic medals inski jumping

No idea what You wanted to prove :D ? rpobably USA peaople could answe with some baseball or basketball statistics.

About Mizutani points: He gained 15 rating points and 60 bonus points (I assume it is for reaching 1/4 final in huge event), but he also lost 58 bonus points (no idea what for, maybe he had 58 bonus points in the past that are no longer being counted).
CHUANG Chih-Yuan lost 19 rating points, but he gained 48 bonus points and lost none of them.

I wonder if it's the same as Tennis.

If Mizutani had reached Semi's or Final the year before, but only reached Quarter Final this year, he would lose points (that's how it works in Tennis anyway!).

Yes I know how it works, just seems to complicated and not fair. Let's imagine the situation that Mizutani beat in best of 16 Chuang in both Kuwait and Qatar Open (it does not change anything because Mizutani won both matches in 16 and Chuang lost them), and worse player overtook better one.
There are much more situations especially with Timo Boll who is very seldom participating in world tour but still his ranking is high.

In table tennis bonus points are deducted for withdrawing from tournament and misconduct. And granted for advancements in big events.
If Mizutani has lost 58 points it is more likely that bonus points simply expired, as they are valid only for 12 months.

As for fairness - everything is pretty fair. Chuang had better performance last year, which gave him many bonus points.
But now, ranking point difference is only 5pts now, so next month Chuang may lose some of his bonus points gained year ago, and Jun will take over and return to 6th place in ranking.
