I've read that the Chinese National Team does a lot of special training for high pressure situations.

They have sports psychologists that work individually with athletes to break down their thought process and thoughts when they make mistakes under pressure.

Also, both Zhang Jike and Lin Dan are pretty clutch players. They definitely have mental strength above and beyond that of the average Olympic athlete.

Save your best tactics for last.. I think the Chinese always prepare a couple serve + 3rd ball combinations of which they expect they will result in instant points. Especially when it's 9-9 and the Chinese player is allowed to serve, it often ends in 11-9.

they are actually the better athletes so they have the luxury to save their best serves/tactics for important points. Normally other players already have to use their best serves/tactics to get to 9-9 or 10-10

if u look at the last 2 serve of game 5th of xx vs jun, its loaded with side spin to xx forehand =xx didnt do banana flick to that forehand side like more shake hand players. only forehand flick =result out of the table and lost the match. XX back hand was his downfall for that match. When he tried to play everything forehand , Jun just blocked to the open side and make XX cover the side to side, time after time. XX never was comfortable and lost. XX up 10-7 and back spin serve to Jun back hand banana flick=shake hand player :p
