As I said, I don't try to argue against it. He makes a valid point and it's true that the dominance is partly rooted in the sheer number of players they can choose from. But that's just the world we live in, I don't see how creating a hypothetical scenario in which we cut China's population in half makes for a good argument against having a bias towards their actual success. The youtuber made a simple observation: China is good. Why is china good? Ah, because china does X and Y. I'm going to explain in a video how and why they do X and Y, and how it differs from method Z, which is used in Europe/the rest of the world.

But he forgets that there was a time when China came to Europe to learn from Europe how to do X and Y. He parodies what Europe does by forgetting that Europe has also been greatly influenced by Chinese coaching and success. Just about all the top players in Europe have been to China or have worked with Chinese coaches, some of them from youth. Some of what the survivors of the training processes that produced these players go through in China are really the fittest. It's not all just technique. How many table tennis specialist schools do you see in Europe?

It's okay to love and respect what teh Chinese do, but work with a national level coach from any country. You will find that a lot of what he is saying is nonsense.

A lot of assumptions in here. Suds79's point is that there is an amazing amount of investment in the sport both in terms of financial and human capital. The top athletes in the rest of the world play soccer. In China, they can play table tennis. And you don't remember the ones that got injured as teenagers or kids along the way and had to drop out. ZJK would never had played table tennis if he was from Japan or the US - those thighs are built for base ball millionaires or soccer stars.

Zhang Jike played football ("soccer") before he played table tennis, he is named after ex-Brazilian footballer "Zico". He was told by his father to play table tennis cause there is more money in it (in China). This is why you can see many videos of him doing keepy-ups with a table tennis ball :)

Just a quick fact! :)

Hello guys, my 2 cents. I have watched many videos from this guy and he can be pretty helpful in some of his insights. One must be a coach or be at a certain level to understand which parts are crap and which are useful imho

If you want solid videos with every little detail explained AND in slow motion try these channels. They have subtitles also

https://www.youtube.com/user/ppball/videos

https://www.youtube.com/user/ppstationchina

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9NJj8pFbzwxgj0pr3Vb0oaVQhI8MJ854

In ppball and ppstationchina channels you have to browse/search a bit to find the tutorials. The BH against underspin is the most complete video I have seen, in terms of using the whole body and releasing energy

The last channel is also great, the guy explains what happens during a stroke from footwork, body balance, muscles involved, fingers/grip everything! Some of his english subs are poor translation but you can understand from the previous and next sentences what he is trying to say.

p.s. I suggest you play the videos of the last channel in 0.5 speed as he speaks/translates very fast (next subtitle already appears when you are reading/processing the previous, so it may get annoying) sometimes you can barely keep up with all the information
