have you tried using kiri center ply instead of balsa?
No, kiri is very hard to find here. If you have any webshops selling it in usable measurements, please share. I'm interested in trying it out.

I'm focusing on balsa now, as this is a very interesting wood too. You just need to find ways to control its strange properties. At first I was very demotivated by the results, but with these last 5 blades, I am very excited!

My latest blades:

I made these for a player from the Netherlands. He eventually chose the brown blade, so I will probably keep the yellow blade to test myself or maybe sell it.

Data sheet
composition: 7+2
materials: balsa, carbon, teak
speed: OFF / OFF+
weight: 80g

Data sheet
composition: 4+2
materials: balsa, carbon, spruce
speed: OFF- / OFF
weight: 75g

I'll add more info later.

It's been a while since I've updated this topic with some more pictures.
The last months I have been very busy with renovating and moving to my new house (with space for a bigger workshop :D ).
I have a lot of blades lying around that still need to be finished and I hope to finish them, once I get settled in.

But here are 4 more blades that I made and sold, that I found interesting:

bladedimi1.jpg

bladedimi2.jpg

An upgraded version to the blade I use for competition. Cross bound top plies and a 3rd layer of carbon make it stiffer, while only 3 grams heavier. Total weight is 71g and speed is OFF-. First impressions of the blade were positive.

bladehao.jpg

My first attempt at a CPEN blade. A parting gift for a Chinese friend who coached me the last year. Light and very fast.

bladegrip.jpg

A lightweight blade with outer plies Limba. The experiment here was to apply a pattern (inspired by the handle of certain pistols) to get more grip on the handle. I find it quite nice visually aswel. Form follows function.

A defensive blade. Slow and controlled, but good for spinning. Not a blade I would use to play with myself, but interesting to make something out of my 'comfort zone'. It has a thinner handle because of the players' small hands.

I like the Cpen blade, in particular the traditional Chinese characters with a old school look. How did you engrave that characters? Hand drawn?

What's the composition, dimension and weight of the Cpen blade?

Passionate about TT

updated the post with picture of the defensive blade
Hi MDP.
once again it is really nice to follow your progression with the blades you are making. Is it possible for you to and the thickness of each ply you use as well as the total thickness? If you want to keep it as your secret the total thickness will do as well. Thanks

Hi MDP.
May I ask you What type of wood you have used for the handle on this blade? What weight do you aim at for the handles?
Thanks.

It's been a while since I've updated this topic, but I have been very busy with making blades among other things.
I haven't gotten around to taking pictures of all of them, but here are some pictures already.

I have started specialising in lightweight blades that play like normal blades. Weights range from 60g to 80g. More and more people try and buy them, so I must be doing something right. I'm experimenting more with subtle differences between compositions to be able to predict the playing properties in more detail.

I'm also experimenting with different blades to find a new competition blade for myself. I went up 2 ranks and feel confident for something with more power.

Hope you guys like the blades.
