Actually, the 13 year old Tomokazu Harimoto broke the world top 20 barrier at the China Open coming in 3rd on June 24, a day or two before turning 14. He actually went down this month! And if anyone was lucky enough to watch the T2 game with Timo today, you can see him creeping up on Timo week by week. And if you think Timo gave him a bunch of points to boost his confidence, watch closely.

In the new century, I guess the youngest is Guo Yue. She was ranked #9 in Jan 2003 (DOB 1988/7/17). The second youngest perhaps is Mima Ito, #9 in Jun 2015 (DOB 2000/10/21).
For male player, maybe Fan Zhendong, #9 in July 2013 (DOB 1997/1/22).

Does anyone know the youngest player to get into the top 10 World Rankings?

Is that the real DOB for FZD or was he actually two years older? He already had legs like a T Rex by then. One of the things that amazes me about Harimoto is that he still looks like a little kid. It is going to be really interesting to see how his game changes as he gets bigger and stronger, which should start happening at a pretty rapid rate quite soon.

I don't know if it is FZD's real BOD or not, at least he celebrates his birthday on that day. On the other hand, Xu Xin celebrates his birthday on 8/16 (official DOB 1990/1/8; real DOB 1989/8/16), Fang Bo celebrates 11/16 (official DOB 1992/1/9), Li Xiaoxia celebrates 6/21 (official DOB 1988/1/16). While birthdays in Jan look suspicious :p
