Somewhat dumb question - why exactly League format is essentially 'Best of 5', so the first team to make 3 points wins? Would it be better for spectators to have longer team matches? Or is it a given that spectators (and thus ticket sales) do not really matter?

That's no dumb question, pgpg. In fact it's a pretty good one.
Garrison's answer is pretty accurate, i'd like to add that the thought behind this change was
a) make teams get used to the champions league format and
b) to increase the TV broadcast time.

But the plan didn't work out at all.

TV time even got less than before and most TTBL matches shown are only a 2 min recap broadcasted by regional TV stations. The big stations completely ignore the TTBL.
PLUS with that change they also started losing live viewers in masses.
Who would have a 2h drive just to watch an hour of TT and then drive 2h back again?
Exactly, very very few only would do so.
So now you have sometimes more spectators at 2nd and 3rd league matches than the TTBL (first league)

Hopefully they (the TTBL club managers and the CEO of the TTBL) have learned from that...

The Q-TTR value is based on your TTR and taken every quarter. If you play a tournament you can play in competitions as your QTTR allows it regardless of your current value. So a player with a QTTR of 1670 can play in competitions of up to 1700 points while his current TTR may be 1740.

Is there any video on YouTube whose owners have authorized publication? Absolutely no league or association authorizes use of the material to make highlights. And it seems to me that there are millions of videos in YT. I have already created many videos for ITTF. ITTF does not remove my videos, but it displays ads on the videos and all the money goes to them. For me, no problem. TTBL could do the same thing.
