While I agree with most you said I think there are some huge advantages with composite even if you are not playing close to the table: My blocks are A LOT better with ALC blades because of the better sweet spot.
That's basically because of the flatter throw angle and the longer trajectory, but can easily compensated with the right touch and racket angle.
So Yeah, as i said: close to the table there's not very much that a composite can do that an allwood can't.
