Wow what a great day of table tennis! During the prelim stage the atmosphere is really intense as players are all giving their all to get into the main draw. Exciting matches and a lot of upsets. One of China's top players Liang Jingkun is out!

Will report tomorrow with training videos, vlogs and more :)

Great tournament so far by Danish-based Chinese Zhai Yujia. He has done well in the European Champions League in the last couple of seasons for Denmarks #1 club, Roskilde and is also an occational sparring partner of Dima :)

He certainly had to fight to enter the Main Draw in Stockholm with four straight 4:3 victories over Kirill Skachkov, Nima Alamian (both after being 2:3 down), Jiang Tianyi (after 0:3 down) and Paul Drinkhall (2:3 down once again).

Tomorrow he'll be facing Marcos Freitas in the Round of 32 - maybe yet another surprising 4:3 victory in the making...? ;)

Sorry to see the bad form continue for Liang Jingkun
:(.

About a year ago, he was playing amazingly in the CTTSL and looked like the favourite to take the fifth spot for the 2017 WTTC. Since then I believe he hasn't played very well at the big Chinese events (like the "Marvellous 12" trial tournament and the Chinese Games). And on the World Tour, he recently lost to Robert Gardos in the first round of the Austrian Open and has now failed the qualify for the main draw in both the German and Swedish Open :(:(:(.

Do any of you Chinese/Asian "insiders" know if he's had injury or illness problems? Or if he is just out of form somehow?

I am not an insider but I have observed him closely. He does not seem injured. It is all about his gameplay. His shots are high risk and inconsistent. He is unable to adapt his game to a new opponent. Only plays well against familiar foes. His FH and footwork is just average. He also lacks a special thing in his game like all great players have. On top of that he has got so many chances in the tour without being able to prove.I dont think he will get more !!

LJK attended 6 ITTF tour this year and this is the third time he did not make the main draw. His best results are QF in Qatar Open and Japan Open. He did very poorly in China National Games, much worse than Marvellous 12 Trials.
Several CNT coaches mentioned that LJK has very good physical conditions in the team and his shot is most powerful, even more powerful than FZD's. However, he is not that ambitious and hardworking. In Marvellous 12 Trials, Ma Lin pointed out LJK has very few variations in first-three-ball and wondered why he did not make any reverse pendulum serve in the match against ML. In the next match, LJK did reverse pendulum serve, but the opponent was totally different... He does not seem to play smart.

I agree with everything except that part - he has a special backhand. But the problem for him is so does Darko.
