Can anyone tell me if there are any short pips that don't have ribbed pimples? I've seen a few LP's that have smooth pimple tops (although most are still ribbed from what I can see) but I can't seem to find any SP's with smooth pimple tops.

I'm working on the basis that a smooth SP would tend to be more grippy/spinny than a SP with ribbed pimples due to greater contact area with the ball.

Thanks

Dr Evil Short Pips is one of them. Although that's said to be one of the lowest (almost LP esque) short pips around. But those are smooth.

If you want standard SP play, don't worry about the ribbed parts as much. Just look for something that's defined as a classic pips. Also the wider the pips are spaced out, the less grippy (because the ball is touching less of the rubber) it'll be.

Or you could always bump down on your sponge thickness if you wanted the ball to react less.
