For the underspin balls he stays at the level of the ball and uses his legs and back to lift the ball over the net. He uses his hips and wrist to produce the whiplike action into the ball from his legs to the shoulder and then down to the ball. For his counters he's bringing his racket back only slightly keeping his elbow at the level of the ball and his legs transfer energy into the ball through the shoulder and wrist.
