If he found the will to train, and worked hard, I think he definitely has the ability to reach form. I mean all players train to reach a peak during certain periods that coincide with important tournaments, and I think if Ma Lin really wanted to he could do so also. But there really isn't that much motivation for him to do so. The Chinese team is so jam packed with elite talent that it would be hard for him to win a chance to compete in the biggest tournaments even if he was in top form.
