Why is Bastian Steger 1st and Fei Xue 2nd in their group? Steger has 6:5 games and Xue has 7:6 games. Both +1 difference but Xue has won more games in total and also won against Steger?!

I have no idea. It says so in the official 2018 handbook under "Regulations for International Competitions":

3.7.5.2 If two or more members of the group have gained the same number of match
points their relative positions shall be determined only by the results of the
matches between them, by considering successively the numbers of match
points, the ratios of wins to losses first in individual matches (for a team
event), games and points, as far as is necessary to resolve the order.

EDIT: It appears that they only look at the ratio

Fewer games lost means a higher ratio (6/5 is higher than 7/6). This is the documented method.

I have no idea. It says so in the official 2018 handbook under "Regulations for International Competitions":
It is a 3 way tie so head to head no longer matters. The Individual ratios are Steger 6-5, Xu 7-6 and Pitchford 5-7. So Steger 1, Xu 2 and Pitchford 3. These things are commonly debated and confused with people trying to bring back the head to head after it is already out of the picture in a 3 way tie.

After all these years, the ITTF still don't put it in decimal in a pair of parentheses after the ratio, leaving people scratching their heads like teletubbies, even after reading the rules.

LSS vs XX in round 2, Fang Bo vs Lin Gaoyuan in round 2 as well. Starting to doubt if everything is drawn "randomly" ittf :p

Overall a very exciting field (as expected). My prediction for Quarterfinals:

Fan Zhendong vs Koki Niwa

Zhou Yu vs Xu Xin (I think Steger will beat Lee Sangsu so XX can dodge him. Steger's style might cause XX some trouble but he should prevail)

Fang Bo vs Marcos Freitas

Tomokazu Harimoto vs Timo Boll

Sorry to bother, but anyone knows anything about why the quality of stream is so low on ITTv? Last time (Qatar Open) was HQ, so I don't think the host association would get worst equipment to transmit (it's 2018 anyway!). But at least in qualification was very low right, and I checked my internet and it was working properly. Anyway, I hope for main draw it gets better

I have another question, anyone knows why the multiball system was used only in the Hungarian open this year ? I understood it was going to be used in more events this years, but so far none. Thanks

It was first implemented at the Czech Open 2017, starting with the main draw.

Only the World Tour events get that treatment.
