I wonder what happened to Tristan Flore, he had great matches against top player (3:4 against Ma Long) and now suddenly I do not see him playing.
Of course his main weapon was serves, even Ma Long could not keep them short but anyway I liked his style

That is also interesting that japan sent Matsudaira who now is very predictable and is no threat for chinese or german players. I think Yoshimura, Ueda or even Masataka would make a difference. By the way Masataka has one of the best wining ratio in German League.

He has always had problems with injuries. He was a bigtime prodigy as a kid and one of the youngest French national champions ever, which if you know the French TT landscape is a huge achievement.

They needed his world ranking(2nd highest for JNT) to secure the team of the 3rd seed position(based on the 3 highest players) for the draw at the end of February. Besides, Matsu-ken and Oshima were picked based on their performance in 2017, as explained by JTTA.

In essence, all 5 members were chosen based on their World Ranking. Yoshimura was ranked at 21 and Morizono was at 48.

The seeding for the draw is based on the team world ranking 1-3, not on the entered players i believe. China could pick WR 79-83 and still be seeded #1, right?

The link with the team players is updated once a day. The teams may change players until the jury meeting next saturday, but they can not add an extra player.

Wrong China is no 2 seed. Germany is no 1 thanks to single ranking

Aye, good thing people think about him.

      http://fr.butterflymag.com/2018/02/t...-jai-le-moral/

      In essence:

      - He's always had a hip malformation, on his left side. He was operated three years ago, and in 95% of cases that does the trick.

      - ...Not so for him, and mid-december of last year he was back on the operating table (I should never look up these things in too much detail, but basically they gave his hip-bone a little "shaving" from the inside of the articulation, as I understand it).

      - Three weeks later, he was back on his feet and walking without assistance. The operation went more smoothly than the first time, and he says he's been doing well mentally speaking.

      - Of course, that's not good enough at athlete level. He then spent three weeks of intense, full-time physical rehab in a dedicated centre in south-western France (a nice place - right by the Atlantic ocean, close to Spain and not too far either from Bordeaux, if you care about these things).

      - The aim was to develop stronger muscles in the whole surrounding area - upper thighs and "backside", as well as core - so as to support the whole darn thing and to avoid a repeat. Was very happy with the staff there and expected his full recovery (i.e. coming back to competiting) to take less time than following his first operation, which had taken between 7 and 8 months back then.

      - By now, he should have been back in training at Insep (French national TT training centre) for a little while. Of course the article was a couple of months old and, as stated, they should now be focusing on getting back into shape and finding the best time for a come-back - hopefully before summer.

Of course, as anyone who is serious about table tennis, I assume Tristan reads TTD so here goes: get well and come back soon, Tristan!

That is correct Sali. My point was ment to be: It is the world team ranking based on player 1-3 that is used for the draw, not taking in to account the players entered for the championship. This is different from the team world cup in London. So: Germany may send the players they like from regional liga, and still be seeded 1

On april 21th , Wang tao , Zhang jike and other national table tennis players came to see the team off in the rain . Wang tao was repeatedly talking and giving advise to Fan zhendong and wang hao . Although zhang jike's not going to sweden but he came to visit his team mates on time. Also before ma long got on the bus , zhang jike stopped him and clapped with ma long with laughter . The scene og the two brothers clap is touching .

Is Zhang Jike now completely retired and stopped playing in international tournaments altogether? Will never show up at any world tour anymore?
