pgpg,
I go to a rec center in queens (https://www.nycgovparks.org/faciliti...oncenters/Q401), it's 3 subway stations from home, no matter how tired i am from TT, 98% of the time i walk home. Takes ~25 mins. Extra exercise for body as well as willpower lol

------------

1. The new club is out of your way ... it's in Flushing. It's about a 10 mins walk after you get off the last stop of the #7 train.

2. Also, in Flushing there is also Robert Chen's club - i've yet to check this club out, i think it's also about a 10 mins if not lesser after you get off the subway.

3. This club is a little further out, 42andbackpains goes there, it was the site of a few GoonSquad missions!

.....

Found my earlier post.

My regular club is a NYC Dept of Parks recreation center. It's members only - no visitor's fee.

RC's club is walking distance from #7 train. My new club is walking distance, but a bit further than RC's. Although there is a free transfer to Q17 or Q27 buses... get off Cherry Ave. and walk 1.5 blocks.

And if you want to follow in the footsteps of Der_Echte and NextLevel and a few other TTDers, NYSIC is the club to visit for the history of previous GoonSquad Missions.

I neglected to post below, two other clubs in Queens I know of:

The Korean club of a previous GoonSquad Mission... Der had the members in stitches speaking Korean to them and entertaining them!

Coach Li's club (I've never been here, only heard of this) - walking distance from #7 train - tad further out:

Hope this helps!

Here is a very helpful response I got earlier in that humongous 'daily chat' thread. I found trip from Manhattan to Queens very easy, ~30 min subway ride and had great time at Robert Chen's club.

If you are in NYC area for a long time you should definitely try to play in one of the monthly tournaments at Westchester TTC club:

Oh, and you obviously can just google for "New York city/Brooklyn/Queens table tennis club" and see what pops up - most of the above options will show up.

pgpg,

Thank you - i would have searched a few pages before finding that post LOL

brodolio,

Not sure how much of NYC you know about. Please forgive me if you know this already.

NYC has 5 boroughs. The clubs pgpg listed are clubs in one borough called Queens where I live and play. Robert Chen's club is rumored to close down and unsure where he is going to relocate to. NYC's Dept of Parks has Recreation Centers. There are no visitor's fee/pay as you play that I know of. In order to play at a Rec Ctr, you have to join for a year the Dept of Parks membership. If you are 18 or younger, it will be free for you to join, if you are over 18 but younger than 62, it's 100 for a year. Over 62 it's 25 a year. This is not a viable option should you only be in NYC a few months. However, if you are staying for close to a year or more, it's the most economical. If you end up in Queens, I may be able to meet up with you. Please note though, I am not sure if you have to be a US Citizen to be able to join.

Manhattan, which most people associate "NYC" to, has 1 club i know of, Wang Chen's, on 100th and Broadway. A recent episode of the cable tv series, Billions, had a scene there. I don't know of other clubs in Manhattan, but I do know there are some bars and pool halls (billiards) that has at least one table: Biergarten comes to mind as well as Fat Cat pool hall.

There are some members (UpSideDownCarl, SoWhat, etc) who know of the Brooklyn clubs. I'm totally clueless on the TT clubs if any in the Bronx or Staten Island. Hope members see this and chime in.

Thank you everyone for your answers, really appreciated.
I'll stay in Manhattan, probably until the end of the year, so I'll try to attend/visit as much event/clubs as I can (I should have enough time).
@OldschoolPenholder I'll be glad to meet up with you also!

Please pm me in June when you are here. If you are here or 6 months, and not just a day/weekend, I should be able to meet up with you !

You have to make at least one trip out to Lily Yip Table Tennis Club in New Jersey, it's about an hour by train and the club is opposite the station :p 22-24 tables, two floors, plenty of decent players.

LYTTC ?? Decent Level players ??!!

Yeah, good enough to kick your azz in twice and give you change if you define that as decent.

LY TT Club is a must stop-by for anyone in the NYC metro area... Oh, ya might see MaTT in action there.

You also gotta do a Korean tour, Han-In in NJ and NYTableTennis.com Korean club in Flushing. Bring drinks or something or be ready to play for delivery chicken.
