Afrobro's Handmade Blades

Time for another update!

Not posted on here for a while for a variety of reasons but with lockdown in the UK, I've had plenty of time to make some new blades with and stock up with some new wood species. I also have some Kiso Hinoki, which was sent from Japan today, on the way - which was how this thread started.

These are just a few of the latest:

The other two blades in the first picture are variations on the Yasaka Sweden Extra composition - one slightly thinner, one slightly thicker.

Thanks Nate. That was the first time using the Satin Walnut - it's an interesting one as it basically sits between Limba and Koto in terms of hardness and weight. I didn't get a chance to play with it unfortunately but the owner seems very happy with it so I'll be making a few more. It seems like a perfect outer ply.

...and no CAD here I'm afraid. Just a lot of work by hand!

Being a short pips user, I'd be interested to know how this composition works out for you.

I definitely prefer different blades for short pips than I do for inverted, so always end up with a bit of a compromise, but any asymmetric blades I have tried so far haven't worked for me.

I think because of the large difference between Limba and Rosewood, you might be more successful, but expect both sides to take on some of the characteristics of the other

Yes I think you are right. But everything else in this blade apart from the Rosewood outer is based on A Force Pro Blue, so if it is a tad stiffer overall should be ok on fh. But if the ball pops off a bit more with the rosewood that will be well worth it!!

I am very hopeful Sedis!!

Those Spectol Blue are very hard!!

BTW do we know each other?
