This is the least predictable even since some time.
Xu Xin even though he performed bad at the Japan Open, could cruise trough if he feels comfortable.
So could a hungry for Tokyo Zhang Jike. Liang Jingkun could play like he does domestically and destroy everyone. Dima is always strong, especially without a Fan Zhendong or a Ma Long. LG could win. And of course Mr. Harimoto, who i think will need a bracket without Dima, and maybe Liang Jinkun who both could overpower him close to the table and have the arm reach to deal wide Balls. My dark horse is Ueda Jin, who recently started playing full time and i think could make it pretty far. Gut feeling is Zhang Jike just because he wants to win.

The Womens Side is also very unpredictable. My prediction is Ning vs Ito.

Funny thing is that some people might think it's a G-shock if they don't know their stuffs in horology

Can you blame them? From that angle it does look like one - I assume this is RM 011 (closest one in appearance according to Google Image search), but it's next to impossible to tell without a detail closeup.

Full disclosure: I know nothing about horology besides being able to recognize names of few famous Swiss watch brands. Also think it's silly to spend that much for the watch :).

Xu Xin didn't play Japan Open!

For me Xu Xin, Lin Gaoyuan, Liang Lingkun are the top contenders here. Harimoto still has to prove he can play this high level outside of Japan, I hope he can though.

You are right,. I mixed it up with the Chinese Open, he he lost in the R32 against Lim Jonghoon.

Even though Ma Long and FZD aren't there, rest of the CNT major players are there. Xu Xin and ZJK are probably the most experienced and consistent of the bunch on the international scene. But Lin Gaoyuan, Fang Bo, Liang Jingkun, Yan An, and Wang Chuqin are just as good in terms of speed and power. It's all psychological. IMO, any one of them could win the title, with the right mindset.

Many CNT players are saying they have trouble with the playing conditions of the venue used for qualification round.

yes , even zhang jike talked about it in his interview after his first match :

“I thought overall I played well, even though we played in the second hall. We normally practice in the main hall and there are some differences. Every match now is new to me as I am not familiar with my opponents. I just need to prepare well for my matches tomorrow.” Zhang Jike
