Butterfly Waging Price War?

The news has been spreading on Chinese forums for a few days.

Butterfly China has finally made a press release. Starting Jul. 16, 2018, the MSRP for Rozena will be adjusted down from ¥390 to ¥190 in China, and from $390 to $245 in Hong Kong. Any news for the rest of the world?

All stores carrying Rozena in HK have it sold at $240 starting Jul 16th, 2018.

That's what many in China suspect. OTOH, Rozena is raking in tons of money for Butterfly in Japan. Their sales is back up to the 2010 level, the absolute peak before the global pricing policy took effect.

Judging from the new MSRP, Butterfly is aiming at ESN. As I wrote on Mytt, anything over ¥200 drives people away in China. Those willing to spend that much would just grab Tenergy instead. In Hong Kong, ESN stuff is mostly in the $300±50 range, Tibhar Evolution used to sell for $350 but got slashed to $250 in 2015 and has been stuck since. Same reason, anything more people would just ditch you for Tenergy.

Rozena's been best selling rubber for Butterfly in Japan ever since it came out. The price is about 4000~4500 yen so I guess Butterfly is decreasing the price for the rest of the world which was the other way round for Tenergy's case.

That is great news, a cut in price makes it more affordable for more people to play and the ones who use it may buy more of it because it's cheaper.

Rozena is not worth its original price. Cheaper rubbers exist that is much better thN Rozena.
