Hi all,

I've recently bought a Stiga Clipper(Master handle, 88 grams). I bought it after a search on the internet, and all people said it was a good blade. I thought it was a good option to me, because I was searching for:

- Better stability close to the table(easier blocks and counter attacks) without loose the ability to play in mid distance;
- I'm always playing too far from the table(many points I end lobbing), and trying to change my game to mid-distance fh-oriented looper to close-to-table double-winged looper.

After I bought and try the Clipper, I've I was disappointed, because:

- Didn't felt that feeling that most people talk about Clipper. Just felt a simple wood blade to me, without the advantage of the control of a 5 ply blade;
- Hollow handle(and I have the non-WRB version, but it's also hollow);
- Many of my loops go over the table and the net, due to blade thickness, felt no control here, miss Viscaria/Treiber K flex here;
- Lobbing wasn't the same;
- Opening loops were too difficult.

The good things:

- I really had more stability close to the table, blocking was much more easier;
- When the ball is catched in the right time, it's easier to do a counterhit, but with a small margin of error;

So I came from Andro Treiber K(and other ALC blades, TBS, TBALC, etc.), and before Clipper I've tried also my Viscaria(That I've left to Treiber K because my Treiber K is more controlled and a little thinner). In Treiber K I was struggling in blocking departement, It's a spetacular blade for looping, but I felt that I hadn't the blocking safety that I wanted, because I end most of the points lobbing and behind seeking for chance to counter attack. With Viscaria, besides short game, everything is easy to me, but I'm afraid I don't have enough weekly pratice time to handle a Viscaria right now. So the questions are:

- Should I stick with the Clipper and make some ajustements? Or stay with Treiber K and try to change backhand rubber?
- If I stay with Clipper, what I should do to loop more effectively, as it is a much thicker blade that I'm used to?

Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
Eduardo

If you are mostly a spinner looper, a 5 ply blade is better because it has more flex and feels less rigid.
Yeah my loop emphasis on spin, but I thought that a change from a 5+2alc to a 7 ply I could mantain speed plus gaining more feel and control, and feedback in order to develop better my backhand stroke.

You'll never find something you're 100% happy with. At the end of the day you choose which blade you'll comprimise with and suit your playstyle to it.
Well when I found Treiber K I thought "woow it's really this", the feel of Viscaria, with less power, more flex, better weight distribution and more confy handle. But after I improved a lot seem's my game is stagnating. This because my game is only forehand oriented and every time that opponent forces me to play backhand I end lobbing. You can say I can pratice more, it's true, but when I see blades that I can have a more safe backhand and put more pressure on opponent closer to the table who knows it's better to bet on it and try to adapt forehand loop. But yeah we loose on some things, we win on another [emoji14]

It is OK to have your game stagnate. It is even OK for it to deteriorate despite the fact that you practice a lot.
I don't want to deteriorate my game, it's just the fact that I feel that I'm always in disadvantage because I play to far from the table, and it's physical demanding playing only forehand looping, like a Tiago Apolonia style( with 1% of his quality ofc [emoji14] ), and I feel, that if I can have a stable BH that at least I can block, it would be an advantage to me to stay close to the table.

even if it is a slower blade than tb alc or viscaria, remember the control is better so you can swing bigger and have stronger shots.

Yeah, you're right. I'll test it on august, it's one month before new season start, so then I'll see if it's worth to make the change to Clipper or if I'll return to Treiber K.
