I've heard complaints from people in 100-150 that the European events are way harder than south American events and becauae of that they are underrated. This directly translates into way less sponsorship money compared to top 100. This kind of hasty sytems thatvare trying to "optimize" for an effect will always have consequences for people that are not considered in the decision in the first place.

Take out the word hasty, and this neatly sums up why it makes no sense for amateurs to be constantly complaining the ITTF doesn't consider their needs. The system is "optimized" for a select group, which makes perfect sense if you're running an international sporting organisation.

This is a big break thorough tournament for pitchford, he follows up beating ma long against another great Chinese and a solid win over Ovcharov... Incredible stuff... He recently (last month) openly discussed with ETTA regarding his anxiety disorders and mental health and has became an advocate for the work of Samaritans to help people open up about mental health...perhaps this has brought out the best in him to enable him to overcome some of the best players in the world
