Japan disastrous tournament goes on with both Japanese XD pairs out in the round of 16 (one pair lost to Chinese, one pair lost to Koreans).

Japan didn't send any of their best players. This result is to be expected. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Japan gave up on the Asian games due to the pitiful amount of points it rewards for table tennis. That's why the top Japanese players are at Czech open instead.

Yes I explained the situation. But it’s a stupid thing it happened. Top players end up at the meaningless Czech open
Since ITTF prize money is not something players can sustain with, the world tour and points are just meaningless. All Asian pro players are supported by their TT boards and national pride of getting medals is of utmost priority. Was it a goof up or intentional ?? It is a known fact that CNT does not give much damn about world tour events. I was hoping for a Harimoto vs FZD finals here.

Maybe ittf will revert back to old ittf system if players complain?

No, the change was first requested by the players. They wanted a system that deducted less points after a loss and after some work the ITTF came up with what we have now.

As things stand, multi-sports games are not worth the time to attend anymore. That's why ATTU and ETTU complained.

9. Any other business
9.1 WR points for Continental Events
Mr. Masahiro Maehara asked the EC to reconsider the WR point allocation for the continental results given the discrepancy between the level of the continental events. The CEO informed Mr. Maehara that if the continental representatives prefer, an official request from the Continental bodies should be received, as ATTU and ETTU were asking ITTF to increase the continental points originally. With an Official Request, the ITTF will reconsider the point allocation.

9.2 Separation by Associations Mr. Maehara also asked to reconsider the current rule of no separation per association in the first round of the World Tour.
The CEO, informed that after receiving various complaints the Competition Department will be considering this proposal in the future.

In case people are not aware, the race for Tokyo has officially started at the WTTC 2018. The points accrued in the World Championship last 2 years, that is, until April, 2020. That is a huge advantage, seeing there is a set limit of points a player can accrue now.

Miyu KATO recovers from 0-3 to beat KIM Song I [Rio bronze medallist who upset both Ishikawa and Fukuhara]
KATO is not the strongest in the JNT, but definitely she is always ferocious and never gives up. Her teammates should try go get some inspiration from her.

At last a good show from the JNT.
