Hi all,

Jeoung Younksik is one of my favorite players, but he doesn't have an unorthodox BH and FH loops? He seems he only uses arm power with almost no rotation from the waist, and the backhand it's also a more hitting than looping. in the long run, it couldn't be bad for his career?

Best Regards,
Eduardo

His mechanics look very stiff and a little awkward, but he's made it work for him. Jeoung had an impressive 2016 with some great wins over tough opponents. Before his injury he was easily the best Korean player in the world.

But with the KNT I've noticed the members often seem to take turns in the limelight. Sangeun, after defeating Ma Long, Sangsu, after taking 3rd in the World Championships, and Woojin, after winning three titles at the Korean Open.

KNT members are dangerous because they seem capable of shocking upsets, but they're likely the third or fourth best team in the world. In my opinion, they all are fairly equal in talent, with Sangsu having the highest ranking because he's the most reliable and experienced. They all have great backhands but I think Woojin has the best forehand amongst the KNT.

I think Jeoung Youngsik's BH is as good as anybody in the world. His FH lacks power. He seems to focus on speed (fast early-timing counter) and placement and not relying on power. It works against most players but against the best players, he still needs more power to break their defence. 3 factors of a stroke quality: speed, spin, power. Best players like Malong, Fan Zhendong, Harimoto has all 3. JYS's FH has at most 2 (speed + spin).

Seriously, Harimoto has speed only and on the BH only.

In the latest TV program, it's revealed head coach Kurashima bashed him for having a crappy forehand after his straight game loss to LJK at the Korea Open.

Yeah, I love the way the KNT players play! When Jeoung Youngsik had an injury? Didn't knew that!

Yeah I agree, but like countrybread said, he has stiff mechanics, like he's playing too nervous and tense. And I think it's great how he can give that impression but despite that he's consistent and a spetacular player!

Talking about unorthodox players, reminds me of Xu ruifeng. Chinese player, once unranked, recently won on Xu Xin. His play is very relaxed and unpredictable.
Just watched that game. Xu Ruifeng just gained a new fan! Their team with a time machine brought him from the 38 mm ball era! [emoji846]
