So yesterday I've managed to hit the top of the net pole and then the ball changed the direction literally 90 degrees and went sideways. So the question is did I win the point or did I not?

2.7 THE RETURN2.7.1 The ball, having been served or returned, shall be struck so that it touches theopponent's court, either directly or after touching the net assembly.

This is more normal than you think. This is he same as if the ball just roll over the net.. You can hit the net, netpost or clamp, no problem!

Sadly, this is illegal in table tennis. Umpire is not considered part of playing table. [emoji14]

For a good reason, to prevent umpire to be a shooting target / return board from disillusioned player. [emoji14]
