Timo twiddles for smashing.. why?

In some points where Timo Boll is smashing he twiddles his bat.. well atleast i thought he did. Why does he do this?

Because he used tenergy 05 Hard on FH and Tenergy 05 no BH, common 05 is better for smashing as Tenergy 05 Hard should be a bit harder for smash.

I don't remember Timo twiddling, any video of that? His Tenergy rubbers should be basically equal for smashing so I don't see any reason for twiddling... for players with boosted Hurricane on FH (like whole men CNT) it's different story but they are used to twiddle in such cases and they do it often. I cannot imagine Timo doing it once a while, this is not what you do in competition matches. Or maybe he does it regularly and I'm just missing it? Few videos would really help.

Yeap, I've seen it, but don't remember against who was, maybe ovtcharov idk. The FH Tenergy is harder, he used Hard version on FH, só it's normal that he twiddled to BH Tenergy to smash, even Bobrow said that while commentating the game

Well I went through few last matches of Timo on youtube (e.g. these from Mens World Cup) and although he was smashing several times no sign of twiddling. So I would be still very grateful for some video reference. It looks very unlikely that PRO is twiddling only in very few cases, especially for people like Timo who change equipment only few times in life. The are used to play 100% all the time and use 95% of moves which they trained million times. If they twiddle (like defenders or guys with Chinese rubbers on one side) they do it consistently.

True, 14th point in game 3 (1:1, 5:8, 6min 12sec into the video). Although the ball doesn't go down so he doesn't hit with the red side

So the theory is that Timo has hair softer rubber on BH and it is still worth it to twiddle (typically once per match or two)?
