Ma Long's first match since his injury - 2018

i don't know if it's true, i've heard that world ranking systerm will change again Jan 2019, major event score will remain until next time, if it's true, ml will regain his 2017 wttc champian score next Jan until wttc 2019,middle of the year, and his rank will up rapidly...

Not sure for the news, you guys can check it.

It all started with the Woman's coach Kong having legal trouble with some casino. He was surprisingly suspended during the WM in Germany. Then the overall Men's coach Liu Guoliang, who is mainly responsible for the success of the modern Chinese dominance, he studied the european tricks of Waldner and Co and brought them back to China, he was the personal trainer of Ma Long with his european topspin style, got demoted, which was mostly a political power struggle amongst the buerocrats. Liu Guoliang became too powerful, and the vice major of Bejing got him demoted.
But then some surprise happened and the top 3 players, Ma Long, Fan and one more protested officially, which didn't play well with the officials, and so they all got banned. Also the ITTF rating changed that not the best but the most active have the most points, the Chinese players having an enormous disadvantage, because their tournaments didn't count, only the europeans. So with the ban and the ratings Ma Long fell to #11, even he still was the best player in the world. Then he announced an injury, and after a series of more mishaps in the team, they lost in Japan against the young Japanese - remember Tokyo will have the next Olympics, Liu Guoliang was reinstated as special Olympics coach. Ma Long came back and won.

I have enormous respect for Ma Long to fight the buerocrats. They could have ended his career, not only Liu's and Kong's. Now it looks like the experts do have their say again.

That is already the case. Ma Long still have 3000 points from winning the world championship. Worlds and Team Worlds points lasts for two years.

i just fell strange for no one talk about it on this forum...

Ranking is a number. Ita depends on performance, but is just a number.
I think that its better for the forum to discuss performance, not numbers.

yeah of course,but it's still quite important for top players, ranking decide top seeds of major events, they have to get top seeds to avoid meet each other early, especially olympic games.(cnt will consider it to decide whom will be send to OG) that's why they came out so frequently this year even if run the risk of injury...

Big camera

At 0.55secs, couldn't the organisers come up with either a much smaller camera at the table or place it more unobtrusively?

As the cam is clamped (I think) to the table, I assume that the ref will rule before the start of play that it is part of the table.

yeah
all the inflated points will now deflate
ranking will now be closer to winners results
the old point system favours just participation and award looses 80% of winners point
so a looser of Round of 16 player can be ranked in top 10 "mathematically"

Agree that thing is hideous. It's like the techonology behind TT sports is decades behind other sports. Too bad it isn't as popular.

that's actually not true - as far as I know players from the same country will not be in the same half . Two players with the same nationality won't be able to meet before the final.
