The irony is that Butterfly themselves are trying to do this themselves. They have all the reaction/vibration stuff for blades, and they give Sriver as the baseline for a rating of 10 for rubbers now. The stores have stuck to their speed/control nonsense though, unfortunately. Hopefully they'll catch up one day.

I'm surprised they didn't put Dignics up at 10 for everything to justify the cost - Although they've got pretty close!

Butterfly Japan has always had Sriver for speed and Tackiness Chop for spin as the baseline at 10 since the old days. They used to have an FAQ page on the old site where it's explained.

A．バタフライがカタログ等に表示しているラバーの性能数字は、ユーザーが商品を選ぶための目安の数字です。スピードはスレイバーを「10」、スピンはタキネス・チョップを「10」として各ラバーの性能を比較していますが、トクアツとゴクウスのスポンジでは弾力が違い、当然トクアツのスポンジの方がスピードは出ます。
従ってスレイバーのスピードは「10」となっていますが、トクアツのスレイバーは10以上のスピードがあり、ゴクウスのスレイバーのスピードは10以下です。またスポンジの硬さなどによってもスピードは微妙に変わります。ラバーの性能表は平均値を取って比較した数字です。

90 euro for a product meant to be thrown away after XX amounts of weeks is pretty ridiculous. A skilled player probably need to change every 4-6 week (or even more often) would be quite expensive.
