Daiki Rubber No More?
I was checking up on them, but instead was met with a 403 Forbidden.
http://daikirubber.jp/
Next course of action - their Facebook page. Got taken down.
https://www.facebook.com/daikirubber/
By this point, I was pretty sure it wasn't hacked. After some digging, it turns out Daiki Rubber was bought out by Kisco in Nov, 2014. Then in Apr, 2018, it merged with East Lane International, that was also bought out in Nov, 2014. East Lane International appears to be in sports wholesale and it has been doing business with Daiki Rubber for a while. According to government records, East Lane International doesn't exist anymore, but Daiki Rubber should still be around. I guess I will find out in a few months.

If that is the case, Stiga, ITC and Nexy will be affected.

Has anyone got any further information on this?
I have noticed a few Daiki made rubbers such as Joola Samba 19 and the Stiga Airoc series seem to be unavailable in some variations at a lot of suppliers and I wondered if this was connected.
Thanks

Daiki still makes rubbers for Stiga until now.

Just got some lead here. The company Daiki Rubber is likely dissolved now. According to Nittaku's Corporate Profile page, Kisco is now listed instead under "主仕入先" or "Main Supplier" in English.

Highly unlikely. Daiki only started developing premium topsheet and sponge in 1991, short-pips and tacky topsheets in 1996 and they didn't succeed in developing a highly elastic topsheet and sponge until 1999.

So the Curl and Spectol series are likely to be made in-house?

The original Spectol was introduced in 1972, so unlikely by Daiki.
Rubbers confirmed to be produced by Daiki:
TSP
Agrit, Rise
ITC
Powercell
Spyder
Impact
Nexy
Karis
Donic
Vario
Joola
Mambo(Mambo H with new packaging now made in Germany)
Samba 19, Samba 27(probably Samba as well, but Samba with new packaging now made in Germany)
Stiga
Mendo, Innova
Neos, Almana
Boost
Calibra
Airoc
Mantra
Tibhar
Vari Spin(other models are made in Germany)
Last but not least, Daiki's website is still getting updated and accessible from within Japan. They were still hiring in 2019 and have more staff now(38 in 2018, 43 in 2019, 45 in 2020).Last edited by zeio; 10-21-2020 at 05:08 PM.

An interesting comment in the Yasaka thread on 5ch. Looks like many in Japan are fed up with the "Mark V lineage". Valmo is anachronistic. Even though it doesn't sell, but like TSP with its Regalis, if you can't sell it anyway, please stay away from the Mark V system and challenge it boldly. LOL!

Many brands actually have long and/or short pimple rubbers “Made in Japan” (Donic, Joola, Nittaku, Stiga, Tibhar and Yasaka comes to mind)
I’ve always assumed that they came from the same manufacturer - most likely Daiki (now Kisco)?

After some serious digging, I'm pretty sure Curl is manufactured by Umehara, located in Ichinomiya, Aichi.

Bumped into a recruitment post by Umehara.
¥927 for an hour of work as a part-time table tennis rubber production assistant.
A total of 15 staff, 9 of which are in the work place, 4 of which are female and 3 are part-time.Last edited by zeio; 11-17-2020 at 06:11 PM.
