I was checking up on them, but instead was met with a 403 Forbidden.

Next course of action - their Facebook page. Got taken down.

By this point, I was pretty sure it wasn't hacked. After some digging, it turns out Daiki Rubber was bought out by Kisco in Nov, 2014. Then in Apr, 2018, it merged with East Lane International, that was also bought out in Nov, 2014. East Lane International appears to be in sports wholesale and it has been doing business with Daiki Rubber for a while. According to government records, East Lane International doesn't exist anymore, but Daiki Rubber should still be around. I guess I will find out in a few months.

That doesn't sound like good news to me.
Less manufacturers means less variety too. Let's hope they keep on keepin' on.

Looks like the Daiki exodus is real. Brands are jumping ship. Joola, Stiga, and now Victas.

I'm curious how much they blew.

Highly unlikely. Daiki only started developing premium topsheet and sponge in 1991, short-pips and tacky topsheets in 1996 and they didn't succeed in developing a highly elastic topsheet and sponge until 1999.

Curl 1977-?
Curl P-1, ?-1999. Replaced by P-1R due to aspect ratio rule, 1999-
Curl P-2, 1981-2001, 2008-
Curl P-3, 1985-. Modified after aspect ratio rule.
Curl P-3α, ?-1999. Replaced by Curl P-3αR due to aspect ratio rule, 1999-
Curl P-H, 2008-
Curl P-4, 2011-

So the Curl and Spectol series are likely to be made in-house?

The Spectol Red and Blue, and also Spinpips Red/Blue look like they use a Daiki sponge.

Possibly this is why Victas Spectol S2 and S3 are on the most recent LARC, but no direct replacement is currently listed on the Victas site

The original Spectol was introduced in 1972, so unlikely by Daiki.

Rubbers confirmed to be produced by Daiki:

TSP
Agrit, Rise

ITC
Powercell
Spyder
Impact

Nexy
Karis

Donic
Vario

Joola
Mambo(Mambo H with new packaging now made in Germany)
Samba 19, Samba 27(probably Samba as well, but Samba with new packaging now made in Germany)

Stiga
Mendo, Innova
Neos, Almana
Boost
Calibra
Airoc
Mantra

Tibhar
Vari Spin(other models are made in Germany)

Last but not least, Daiki's website is still getting updated and accessible from within Japan. They were still hiring in 2019 and have more staff now(38 in 2018, 43 in 2019, 45 in 2020).

An interesting comment in the Yasaka thread on 5ch. Looks like many in Japan are fed up with the "Mark V lineage". Valmo is anachronistic. Even though it doesn't sell, but like TSP with its Regalis, if you can't sell it anyway, please stay away from the Mark V system and challenge it boldly. LOL!

After some serious digging, I'm pretty sure Curl is manufactured by Umehara, located in Ichinomiya, Aichi.

Nice find!

Having played with quite a lot of different Japanese-made long pips, I feel quite certain that most of them are made by the same manufacturer - kind of the “ESN of long pips” ;)

Bumped into a recruitment post by Umehara.

¥927 for an hour of work as a part-time table tennis rubber production assistant.

A total of 15 staff, 9 of which are in the work place, 4 of which are female and 3 are part-time.
