Donic released whole series of World Champion '89 blades for 25-year anniversary back in 2014/2015.

They look very nice but what was surprising for me is their composition: very stiff and fast blades with carbon layers. Something maybe similar in stiffness and speed to blades used by pros at that time but definitely not composition. I also doubt they are of any use to 95% of TT players out there (because they are demanding in technique and footwork) except as nice collectable items...
They all use spruce wood as outer layer (so springy character) and zylon-carbon type of a artificial layer (Appelgren and Person right under the top layer, Waldner is inner-layer structure).

I tried briefly the Appelgren and the Waldner. The handles are nice, very comfortable. The Appelgren is very playable, not extremely fast and nice touch. The Waldner is very springy, i didn't like it at all. I imagine the Persson would be even worse.
A friend of mine have the blue one. I agree that the handle is very comfortable. Almost like the old Jo Shape blades that were more thin at the top of the handle i think. Why did they stop doing these? or atleast i think it is a different, it feels so.

They still sell a blade named "Waldner Offensive Limited" which has got the old Banda shape.

True, maybe they are not so fast as zylon and spruce suggest, revspin db reviewers dropped the speed score since I've looked last time. Appelgren WC89 should be in ~OFF- range, Waldner OFF and Person probably the fastest. Which corresponds with their personal preferences and other Donic blades with their names so probably no surprise there... definitely are premium blades in terms of materials and finish, for some people will be playable. Any user of this forum with longer experience?

I have appel gren one which is truly amazing; does everything; but, it is true that all of 'em are of bouncy nature; which is not of my personal taste
