I thought about it and it is not as demoralizing as you think. Definitely a bit unfair but not demoralizing. She could easily not be picked to play anything.

World ranking becomes a factor now for the runner-up. At WR18, SYS' chance for singles is infinitesimally small. The CNT will not risk picking her over WMY and give up securing the podium.

In April, her rating will drop significantly ....She has two big deductions, and there is no reserve .....

The biggest surprise of the M12 for me is the emergence of Xue Fei. He seems to be flourishing under Wang Hao. His 'weak' FH has improved by leaps and bound. Footwork and BH quite impressive as well. I would say well done Wang Hao.

And the biggest let down is WCQ (the so called future WR #1 ) . It was a great platform to announce his arrival on the big stage but he flopped miserably. Hopefully it is temporary dip and coaches can work out the 'issues'.

Happy for LSW that she could rebound on the last day after so many losses earlier. It looks almost certain that she will get a spot for WTTC.

It's 100% the hardest competition. Olympics and world's is a cakewalk in comparison. If nationalities didn't matter in table tennis China would have 16 of the top 20 in the rankings I would guess.

Fan Zhendong stomped everyone...but he looked particularly aggressive toward Liang Jingkun. This was amazing to watch.

LSW only regained confidence and 'woke up' on the last day. DN's defence could not withstand 4 days of intense smashes, flicks etc. consistently. ZYL's amorphous taichi play was always 50-50.

Now that the tour is over, here is my prediction on who from CNT would play singles in the world championships:
men - FZD, LJK, XX, XF, LGY
women- CM, SYS, DN, WMY, LSW

ML is likely going to skip the tour preparing for Tokyo next year. It’s a toss up between ZYL and LSW. I picked LSW.

XF is indeed a big winner. Got give WH some credits for how FZD and XF performed in this tour. So happy to see FZD come back as strong as ever.

Also Qin Zhijian talked about Zhang jike : He will be in Shenzen too, for some promotion activities , Recently he didn't have much training but I believe that as long as he still has the desire to play and the motivation and courage to continue to play on the field , The chinese table tennis team still welcomes him back . 而另一位大满贯选手张继科，在赛前退出了直通赛的较量，他的近况让不少球迷和媒体格外关注。对此，秦志戬教练介绍道：“继科本来也是要来（深圳），参加一些直通赛的宣传和推广活动。最近他没有太多的训练，自己也是主动说我放弃这次直通比赛的机会。但是我相信他只要还有打球的愿望，还有继续征战赛场上的动力和勇气，中国乒乓球队还是欢迎他能回来。
