许昕和林高远都在这次的比赛发挥一般，秦志戬也分析了他们各自的原因。“许昕作为直板打法，在队内难度更大一些。他的特点也是国际赛场上运用自己的超强的纠缠能力为球队得分。一个直通的比赛，是队内的比赛，队内还是练兵，主要是一致对外。”
而对于林高远，秦志戬认为还是心态上出了问题。“前几天在场上林高远显得有些迷茫。我和他有一些沟通，觉得是赛前定位有些偏高。毕竟两年前在家乡取得了直通名额，这两年刻苦努力，一直也攀升到世界排名第三，一直在进步。”
“所以这次比赛之前可能目标和定位有些偏高。他的目标是前两名，但其实全面的能力显得有些单薄。而且队友对他的看法也和两年前不一样，认为他是世界第三，会放开手脚拼他。心态一起一伏，无形之中整个节奏和赛前的准备和战术的运用会带来负面的东西。通过比赛，每个队员发现问题，通过封闭训练解决问题。”

关于比赛的质量，他表示：“从男队的角度来说，比赛的质量还是非常高，无论是第一名樊振东，全胜的战绩，四到九名的小分计算，差得也是分毫之间。29场达成3-2，概率在40%。这也说明一个激烈程度，水平差距也并不大。”
至于大循环的赛制，秦志戬也表示这是教练组有意为之。“历来的大循环，无论男队女队，这些运动员还是很纠结的，大家水平差不多，这么高的运动量和对抗。不光是练技术，也是练人。一听到大循环，仿佛就是噩梦。教练组也是希望残酷的赛制和公平的竞争，调动出斗志和激情，和全方位的能力。能用非常好的节奏进入大赛前的封闭集训。”
剩下的世锦赛参赛名额，将在晚些时候公布，秦志戬透露，“时间节点大概是3月初或者3月中。前一段我们发布了备战体系，参谋部会拿出名额分配的建议去研究，更合理的编排名额，我们的终极目标还是为了东京奥运会。”

本次直通赛缺少了马龙和张继科，秦志戬介绍说：“马龙来了深圳，一直在枕边做伤病的康复。从这两天的恢复情况看还是不错的，卡塔尔公开赛为他报了名，希望他能站在卡塔尔公开赛上。”
“张继科最近也没有太多训练，之前跟队里表示放弃本次比赛的资格，他本来也是要来深圳参加一些推广宣传。我相信他只要还有打球的愿望，还有站在赛场上的动力和勇气，中国队还是非常欢迎他。”

Regarding the quality of the competition, he said: "From the perspective of the men's team, the quality of the competition is still very high.
