I suggest you get another opinion from a reputable coach. I really doubt a coach would advise 2.2mm rubber and an expensive butterfly blade for a 10 year old.

I'd second this

Also ask around the club to see if he can use other peoples setups whilst he is with the coach. The coach may spot a setup that might be a little advanced right now, but with a little more training would be good for his progression?
