CCTV Sports Personality Awards

The Chinese Table Tennis Team was nominated for four categories:
- Best National Team
- Best National Coach
- Best Female Athlete : Ding Ning
- Best Male Athlete : Zhang Jike

Present in the event were Liu Guoliang, Zhang Jike, Ma Long, Xu Xin, Ding Ning and Yao Yan. Unfortunately, they didn't win any award but it is already an honor to be nominated in this prestigious awards night. It was a really tough competition, especially for different Chinese National Teams since almost all of the sports teams in China are very successful in different ways this year. Aside from table tennis, China also excels in volleyball, badminton, chess, football, swimming, etc.

The winners of the event
Best National Team: Chinese Women's Volleyball Team
Best Head Coach: Wang Haibin (Fencing)
Best Combination: Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng (Doubles Badminton)
Best Female Athlete: Li Na (Tennis)
Best Male Athlete: Sun Yang (Swimming)

On the bright side, it's probably the first time in the table tennis world a player performs so seriously on stage. Yes, Ding Ning had a dance performance (video below). And also, at least we see these players looking so fine in suits and dresses.

I can't even believe that the "National Sport of China" didn't get any award. Anyway, here's Zhang Jike. I don't know what he's doing but he had a mic with him hehe

Right! As a sports fanatic (major in table tennis) hahaha i love all Chinese players in general. Especially the women's and men's volleyball team. I really enjoy their matches. But actually the women's status as of now is that they only got bronze in the 2011 fivb world cup. Italy won gold and USA silver. I'm also a fan of Lin Dan and Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng in bdaminton. Lin Dan is really great. Youngest badminton player to have a grandslam title! I also like their snooker master and their gymnastics teams.. In China, sports personalities are really stars. So much on the showbiz side cuz people really look up to them like celebrities. But of course they do much much much harder work than showbiz people. I saw one article last year predicting the results of the 2012 London Olympics.. based on medal count, it's a tough fight between USA and China.
