I heard there are some documentaries about the grueling and merciless training program of the table tennis kids of China and how a very small percentage of them actually become title winners as most of them get washed up. I got this from a youtube video comment, so I don't actually know if there are documentaries like that out there, but if there is please link me! Thanks!

I have met and took lessons from one that didn't make the CNT. The Chinese have what we would call a ping pong high school. My coach qualified by winning a tournament when he was 13. After 4 years he didn't make the cut for the CNT. We wonder what he is doing now. I think his student visa got rejected so he couldn't come back to the US after going home for a bit.
The problem is that he didn't learn the things he should have learned in high school.
Life is tough for many young people in China because of the competition.
