Thinking about Harimoto quarter I think some are looking too far. I think he might be the one proceeding to the semis, but I don't think hes the huge favorte now. There are many playing styles he still has to adapt to way better to play those results nearly as consistent as the chinese players. Last time he met Freitas he lost, against Timo it's 50% (But more depending of Timos performance which is not too stable before this WTTC, like beats Fang Bo and loses to the 100 of the world few weeks ago- bu he's definetly a tournamennt player, getting better game by game). Also I wuldnt underrate Jang Woojin, big thread to every chinese and non Chinese player. If he's on fire I think hes the best Korean player right now, LSS not very stable in the last months. Another good player in this quarter is Daniel Habesohn, pretty impressive how he managed to get from like no4 in the national team to no 1 in that age, played pretty impressivve in the first german league, won against Fang Bo in the Champions League as well, 3rd place European Champs, so I think one of these will take the spot.

In the first quater before LJK meet FZD, he has to win over Lin Yun Ju. The 18 year old is getting better day by day, just won the last challenge plus tournament with good players, beat ovtcharov, so no sparring for LJK, beside the fact that he is known to be not that stable against non chinese like the others, but I think the bigger thread for FZD looking at the statistics. Next to Ovtcharov in the quater we also have Tomislav Pucar European Champion u21 last year. Last pro Tour tournament he beat 2 Chinese players and lost 3:4 9:11 in the 7th to Lin Gaoyuan, his style is pretty good against the chinese players. Koki Niwa is good against any non Chinese and XX maybe, but will be buried by ML or FZD.

In the Lin Gaoyuan quarter Ma Long is definetly the fav to survive, but its a pretty tough draw. I personally hpe that Calderano gets far, but hes too unstable in general unfortunately. I think even Gnanasekaran can give him a tough time in second round. He's like playing semis at major events and when you think hes on fire, he gets busted in the first round against 30+ ranked players (Like the same with Gauzy). I'm looking forward to the clash between Mizutani and Jung young sick, we had that game at the wttc 2015 and it was crazy like 7th game 14:12 to mizu, their playing styles fit very nice to each other.

In the last quarter I think Franziska and XX will make it to the quarters. LSS not very good performance last weeks, Franziska is exploding (and no injury). Matthias Falck and Pitch will be a thread too and maybe Gauzy but as much I likee the game of Simon, hes not dangerous enough I think, his style is outdated against the top 4.

Alll in all World champion will be Michael Maze
Cheers :D

Yeah, he does deserve it. If only Harimoto was on the other side of the draw too (probably impossible) and he won with ML or FZd ... I just can't see XX beating those two, on the contrary, seen him losing to them so many times in the past ...

Although Harimoto has proved he can be good vs chinese But he has proved many times that he's not that good vs non chinese players in critic moment too, So it's not certain how far he'll go , I think XX can have a chance in front of FZD but Ma long I dint thnk so . It seems Ma long will get his 3rd one . He's in beast mode .

Do you know why ZJK is in Budapest? Seen him playing in an ittf video. Know the CNT often travels with the whole delegation, but he wasn't even competing at mv12.

Ito said that her block is filled with a large number of masters. When she saw the possibility of meeting Sun Yingsha in the third round, she said: "My first feeling is wow, here it comes. I believe the opponent feels the same. I have more experience than her (in international competition), this I feel is my advantage. We are the people who will lead the world table tennis in the future, so I want to beat her for good this time." Ito's goal this time is gold in WS, WD and XD. "If you win one match at a time , you will be closer to the goal of the triple crowns. So the first thing is to keep a normal attitude, no matter who the opponent is. Every effort must be made to win." Emphasizing that she's not afraid to face the strong enemy of the Chinese team early on. "If you want to win the championships, you must beat her."

On such a draw, Ito’s smile was slightly bitter: “I drew it myself, so I’m confident to win.”

Later, in a positive tone, she continued: "I think the opponent will also think 'Wow, Ito is coming." In terms of mindset, my experience is more abundant. I think we will become companions who will lead the world together in the future. But here I want to do my best to win." Ito, who will play the women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles, still does not change her original intention. "A match at a time, close in on triple crowns. First(until the third round), I want to win the two matches ahead of me."

The world's fourth-ranked Japanese Chinese prodigy Tomokazu Harimoto is in a block such that he will not encounter a Chinese player before the semi-final. He admits that this is a good draw: "The possibility of winning medals has increased", and he's more confident that he'll win a medal for the Japanese team after 40 years.
...
Harimoto and the Chinese players are in different blocks: "This is a pretty good draw. I won't face Ma Long before the final, and will not face Chinese players before the medal match." His right ring finger is injured, and he says it’s about 80% recovered: “(It’s rare to get such a good draw), I will seize the opportunity to win a medal! The motivation is therefore even stronger.” Harimoto said that the good draw is getting his fighting spirit up.

However, in the third round, Harimoto will meet the Portuguese player Freitas who he had never won before (his two past encounters ended in defeat), so he was also particularly vigilant: "It will be a difficult match."

I think playing in front of every player is difficult in WTTC So if harimoto wont play in front of chinese it doesnt mean he will have an easy journey .

Think so too,
playing the quarterfinals at that age is dangerous, now he has to handle this pressure.Plus I think we'll see another CNT like last year or months before. If they manage to do anything extraordinary good, then it is the way they are in shape on point. Seen the same thing with Hirano getting buried by Ding Ning in 2017 after she made all these upsets... so I think Hirano,Ito and Harimoto should do all these things on the big stage before talking about a triple gold medal :D

Guys, what do you think of Lin gaoyuan chances against Jun Mizutani? The last time they met he lost..
That would be an interesting match up!

Mizu is like a big questionmark in the last 2 years. Since he became father I think his priorities changed a little bit. But still a threat to any player, if he's in shape.

Given his eye condition and his last-individual-WTTC announcement, I'm afraid the odds are clearly against Mizutani.

He will retire after Tokyo 2020.

Ya. He said a big contributing factor is that he could no longer keep Harimoto and the youngsters at bay. That's actually a good sign. Matsushima is well on his way for a 2nd-coming-of-Harimoto in the next Olympic cycle.

Michael Maze is playing in Men's Singles qualifier group 48 trying for a career comeback. Incredibly neither of his matches are scheduled on streamed tables. Not even his match against Karakasevic on Monday. We have 2 former European greats playing in a WTTC in Europe and they don't put their match on a streaming table. What is wrong with ITTF schedulers

My impression or the transmission have a kinda good fps quality this time? I was watching a match and somehow I could follow very well the plays, although could be the players being 'slow' heheh
