Table 2 has the top ranked player from Oceania Heming Hu, (from AUS not NZL by the way) so there are likely a few people down under who give a hoot. There will be players from each of the listed countries watching their representatives. But it's unlikely that people from outside of those countries will focus on matches from Madagascar, Cote D'Ivore, etc.

Live streaming Maze vs Karakasevic would have given us one of the best matches in the group stage to watch, but the video quality isn't great, and it's also important that lesser known countries get a sliver of the limelight. Most of these guys will never get live streamed again, they can hold on to it forever. Hope they play well and do their countries proud.

The best way to see all the matches you want is to go there in person, WTTC is an experience of a lifetime.

I also get your argument and agree with it. But it's funny that ITTF gives so much spotlight to Maze, with photos and articles on the front page, put then doesn't broadcast his matches.

I get the lesser countries argument, but I think you (suspecting you have close ties to the ITTF) are rationalizing the ITTFs inability to work something out for situations like this.

Consider also that these matches are not actual televised content, just live stream content, and are unimportant to the ITTF (a major reason for redesigning the WTTC in future years).
When televised matches commence, with commentary and multiple cameras the ITTF are more selective with their choices. Japan always has a table to themselves in the main hall, where Japanese broadcasting is held. You will notice most of the big matches for Japan are on a specific table.
Aside from having a Hungarian player on T1 in that run of matches, the others were just in order of group number. Qualification matches are not important enough. ITTF focuses on social media content, with much further reach than ittv.

Understood. And you believe that a match between Karaksevic and Maze won't generate social media content?

ITTF web site has Maze on its home page as one of their leading stories about Day 2 action. They have previously published articles about his decision to come out of retirement. Yet they don't stream any of his matches. ITTF doesn't seem to have any idea of promoting their own story lines, no idea how to push human interest stories to generate some buzz.

Most of the matches they put on the streamed tables at the time of the Maze - Karaksevic match ended up as 4-0 or 4-1. Meanwhile Maze is up 3-2 in what appears to be a close match. An opportunity lost by ITTF.

Hey, you have heard TTGuru's lawyerly defense of the ITTF. So they are doing the best they can. I would just put a cellphone there and stream it but what do I know.?

There's way more here about the woman's than that thread. Maybe you should start a doubles thread, separate for women's, men's and mixed of course.

Then start a USA only thread, hm.. I see there is one already
lets start a national thread for all the countries that takes part :p:cool:

I find the AGM more interesting to watch than the matches here. LOL. The ITTF's financial statements and Sharara's suspension...

Very heated discussion over the new WTTC format when the interests of your country come into play.

Robert from Uganda is very active and down to earth. "We should not play in the finals because we not good enough yet."

It came out now, Weikert's presidential salary 94K for 2018.

It should be noted that within the expenses of 306,767 USD, incurred in relation to the ITTF President, 94,233 USD was paid to Mr. Tomas Weikert as an honorarium for the services provided.[/FONT]

Former World Champion Koji Kimura of JTTA is against the multi-color-rubber proposition on the premise of higher manufacturing cost. Is that a joke?

73 in favor out of 93 total.

It's passed!!! We can have rainbow colors for topsheet!
