Main Draw Day 1 Highlights (For Me)

Men's Singles

- Lin Gaoyuan vs Yoshimura Maharu: While Lin is the favourite on paper, I was actually really impressed with Yoshimura during the XD finals. He had some very creative returns and unpredictable play then which hopefully he can bring those over tomorrow (or later depending on your timezone).
- Lee Sangsu vs Simon Gauzy: I would expect Gauzy to be the winner here. His spin game (and possibly tactical planning ability) is definitely better than Lee right now but strength might dominate and go Lee's way. *shrugs*
- Wong Chun-Ting vs Lin Yun-ju: Wong has been on a slump for quite some time now, commonly exiting during the first/second rounds while Lin's form has been quite impeccable of late (especially with his powerful BH flicks).
- Yu Ziyang vs Mattias Falck: Both will enter the game with great psychological confidence, with Yu having survived a huge scare during the qualifications against Pucar and Falck placing second at the recent ITTC.

Women's Singles

- Ding Ning vs Kihara Miyu: The reigning Olympics champion is said to be injured (sprained her ankle or something *ahem*) while Kihara is on the rise. Hopefully we will see an epic clash of generation (plural term perhaps since the former is almost double the latter's age).
- Wang Yidi vs Ito Mima: Can Ito who is hungry for revenge switch up her straight losses to CNT at both the Qatar and WTTC.
- Chen Meng vs Sun Yingsha: Honestly, it's split 50-50 between the two trump cards.
- Ando Minami vs Zhu Yuling: While the odds clearly favour Zhu, Ando uses a similar set-up to Ito and we all know what happened last year at the Swedish Open (zeio's subbed clip for that match remains one of my favourite pick-me-up when in need of a laugh).
- Qian Tianyi vs Shibata Saki: Reigning Junior World Champion versus Queen of Challenge Series (at least in 2018).

Not feeling much about the doubles so shall stop here. What do y'all think and look forward to the most?

The new ratings system repeatedly creates such "upsets".
For me or top players ranking is really irrelevant. At the end after 10 years nobody Will remember that ovtcharov was no 1. Important thing is how many olympics or World championships medals he has.
Before top events like olympics players take part in all small tours to gain as many points as possible to have better ranking and position for the top event.

Regarding your doubts about her injury, what are you insinuating?

Vova's off the bounce backhands look so beautiful from this angle, he's got such lovely fluent technique.

On his old days, he’s playing better and better. [emoji16]

Anyone knows where I can find footage of the match Sathiyan vs Stefan Fegerl. Happened yesterday on table #6. Was not covered by iTTV folks. if someone can upload it would be even better.

A billion thanks in advance from India! :)
